Rain and storm for Cpt

Just when I get to run around naked in the rain again, I have to go to Gauteng :(

Pulls a zap sign at mother nature.

Mix of drizzle and heavy showers in Kenilworth. Just had a 10 min deluge that brought puddles on the lawn, and water running down the middle of the roads!

Edit: The SAEON Constantiaberg mountain catchment recorded 12mm in the hour between 5pm and 6pm!

What fun
Coming down proper now in Somerset West

Here as well.. had to turn up the volume..

I remember clearly winter 2000
I had just returned from UK in May and bought a house in Gordons Bay with a flat tin roof.

Went to Hi Fi Corp and bought a 72cm Sansui telly - the biggest you could get without breaking the bank and going Sony :laugh:
1 night that same winter my gf and i are on the couch watching a movie on our DVD player and the next thing it starts bucketing down.
We turned the volume up to 99 and still couldn't hear it on the tv LOL (I hadn't yet connected it to the HiFi).

And we laughed and laughed and laughed and then we said fek it and went to the bedroom. :)

Amazing love story this lol

Just went to empty gauge here in Kenilworth before it overflows. Almost off-scale, over 40mm! Quieter now.

One of my neighbours drove to Pinelands during the deluge, says the roads were flooded, with broken down cars on the side of the road...

Beautiful...

We are between Iman Haron and Keurboom Roads, a bit closer to town than Gordon_R. I have just emptied 60mm from our gauge, though our 24 hour period runs from 8am to 8am so there will be more by tomorrow. Our highest reading in our garden over 29 years for one day in June (2009) was 104mm. Our wettest June was 525mm in 1994 - that was serious rain, our drains got blocked and the level of the water in the loos started rising.

Epic running conditions on the mountain tonight. Waterfalls thundering down, flowing paths and not too much wind. Remarkably, no ones headlamps died in the deluge

2500L JoJo, empty this morning, is now full and overflowing.

Yep, ours too. A 100m^2 roof with 25mm of rain equals 2500 liters!

Jip, wasn't expecting the downpour to fill the tank so quickly. The water also flowed through a tank that was already full via the overflow.

Gotta watch those interconnection and overflow pipes, particularly when there is heavy rainfall. Running water can undermine the tanks, and do quite a lot of damage...

I find it ironic that all the tanks are now full, just when our garden doesn't need any watering...
