The SAWS rainfall numbers are recorded at 8am daily, but the totals so far are quite impressive! See: http://www.weathersa.co.za/images/data/climate/nr_daily_rai.pdf
Highest include Kirstenbosch 84mm, Slangkop Lighthouse 47mm, Molteno Reservoir (CBD) 33mm, Strand 21mm, etc. Significant rainfall is likely in the Overberg during today.
Edit: Some incredible short-term runoff charts. The Berg River Dam inflow is nearly half of the annual average: http://www.dwa.gov.za/Hydrology/Unverified/DetailStageFlow.aspx?Station=G1H076FW&Type=Flow&Rain=N

Wow! Next time phone the council before the rain starts. Some drains seem to get blocked way too often. I ended up clearing ours myself before winter.

I see the city council is busy... They were unblocking drainage on the R27, they were working under the bridges on the foreshore, and were on Koeberg road this morning by Ysterplaat.
