Well supported by other parameters. A typical NW Cape storm, that is going to surprise the forecasters in the next few hours.

Has been bucketing down here in Gardens/Cape Town. Wind picking up as well.

Dwarsberg/JHK - already on ~90mm (did +55mm in last 3 hours!)

Hot water bottle, blanket, cup of tea...

1980s.. teenage memories of a long departed yesteryear..

I picked up one of those foldable hoses from Builders and with the 2, 3-odd days' rain we had in Cape Town last week my pool is almost overflowing.

These hoses make a massive difference

Clicky

I bought R600 worth of the stuff two days ago and I can't get it to work. It just pinches and the water starts flowing out of the top of the sleeve that's wrapped around the gutter. How have you installed yours? Around the base of the gutter where it flows out or have you have attached it near the top and then let gravity do the rest?

I just tied the pipe to the bottom of the gutter pipe closest to my pool and let gravity do the rest.

So far it's working well, I can see the water running into the pool.

I do see however the pipe I have is not exactly the same as the one I thought I bought (in the link in my post), mine is more a kind of material, similar to the bags you buy your 10kg and 12kg braai wood in, rather than a pvc pipe.

This is what I've got: Click

Where does your pipe pinch? Is it squashed flat or open for the water to flow through?

Rain meter over 1/2 full already! (70mm capacity), that is a shat load of rain in a short period of time, and the big rain is still on its way. I'm in the Kraaifontein area.

Will empty at 11AM to get the total for the last 24hrs.

Edit: Just went and checked, just over 35mm, which is great for Kraaifontein, going to be a very good/high total at the end of the day.

It doesn't matter how it looks, if at all possible, go now. As @werny says, there are much worse conditions and a whole lot more rain coming

29mm in gauge in Kenilworth up to 8am. Temporary respite, but bucketing down now. Very dark sky, couldn't believe its daytime with many lights still on.

Not as much wind as I expected, but the surface low was still developing before landfall. The temperature is still very mild, but will change drastically around midday as the wind swings to south-westerly direction.
