7pm and the wind is starting to pick up nicely here in Somerset West while i braai :giggle:
Looking forward to going to work tomorrow on my jetski !!!!

Planning to do a midweek Matroosberg trip on Wednesday. What say you experts, good idea? Seems like tonight and tomorrow should bring some additional snow that should layer up nicely for Wednesday.

Bit of a rundown for tonight's storm:

The snow outlook is good. The latest lockdown may affect travel though...

Anyone with an accurate anemometer here in S Subs?

Am curious what the avg wind speed or max gusts are mountain side.

Projections are 10-25 m/s ...that translates to 36-90 km/h

Seeing gusts of up to 89km/h Claremont side. There are 4 online stations in the southern suburbs. Grab the Davis WeatherLink app and take a look...

We’re seeing gusts up to 74km/h in the northern suburbs (Vredekloof). My own station isn’t online just yet.

So pretty close to 100km/h estimates.
Nice one, thanks.

Pounding rain just woke me up!! And I mean really pounding. I usually sleep like a log, not even an alarm clock can rouse me sometimes.
CmI could barely hear myself think. Thought I was underwater as I came to from sleep...

Some of of the fiercest weather I've ever experienced in my life.

The real-time updates for the Berg River Dam show sustained inflows, with a 2 day increase of about 7% to around 89% at 6am this morning (another 1% to 90% in the 6 hours up to midday). This dam always fills first due to its mountain catchment location, and the excess will be pumped into Theewaterskloof soon (Eskom permitting!?)
Berg River, did 1% point in a few hours, crazy stuff. If memory serves that pipe can 'only' do +300M litres per day, which is approx. 0.25% per day, they had better get going if not already started.

Thats a very nice weather station. I got the Oregon Scientific. Mine doesn’t connect to my phone.

I recorded the highest windspeed yesterday afternoon since installing mine a month ago 63km/h in Wynberg.

'Only' 20mm in our gauge in Kenilworth, but a lot more over the mountains.

Yeah, just noticed that, passed 93% this morning! They should start pumping soon after it hits 90%, though next week does look dry. The key is that the soil is saturated from last week's mega-storm, so that any rainfall immediately turns into runoff (70m^3/sec!) This can clearly be seen from the inflow chart:

Will be very interesting to look at the weekly figures when they are updated later today: http://www.capetown.gov.za/Family a...and-sanitation-services/this-weeks-dam-levels

**** me sideways !!!!!! :oops::oops::oops:
i dont know when last i was that scared on a bike
Twice i had to drop down to 3rd or 4th and put my hazards on and 1 foot out in that hectic wind !!!!!!

i literally need to go poo now from that stress !!

That wind last night was insane. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see pics of uprooted trees and damages roofs this morning.

It was monstrous, especially given the fact that I have a corner house.
Where can I get the forecast for yesterday? SAWS seems to have from the current day and onward.
