Not an issue at all. The lower pumped storage reservoir is entirely separate from the two main dams, and holds only 24 hours worth of water. Any excess in the main dams runs down the Steenbras River into the sea.

There are lots of different types of frozen water. It is difficult to distinguish the types without a microscope, let alone looking at a video image!? Snow is a very specific one, which is light and fluffy, falls slowly, and only accumulates when the ground is close to freezing.

Thanks! Yeah that makes a lot more sense just thinking of where the dams are and where the power setup buildings are.

They will review the restrictions at the end of the hydrological year, which is 1 November. We can be pretty sure that levels will still be above 80% by then. Most users should not need garden water in the near future, given how wet everything is right now...

No further tariff reductions are likely, only a lifting of the amount of water that can be consumed.

Not mine. We had snow flakes, quite large wet ones but snow none-the-less. Also had hail and sleet down to about 800m. It was around 1c at 6am at the cable car top so snow was definitely on the cards. Many other running buddies were also out yesterday and reported snow

I don't have any official sources, but there are many anecdotal reports of widespread snow at low elevations on mountains across the entire southern half of SA this morning (Tues 18th).
