Sick to death of this winter now already...
Want the sun, birds and blue skies for more than a day or 2.

Can't believe the temps at 2am are still hovering around 8C this time of year, just a few km inland from the coast.

Wut/?
It's like summer today.

Hold on to your hats gents, ladies hold on to your skirts and wear underwear. There's another set of cold fronts approaching the Cape.

Some (but not all) model runs show extreme cold and snow over the mountains on Thursday 1st October. This is too far ahead to make specific predictions, but a clear indication that conditions are likely to be unsettled...

Quite a season the cape is having this year :D if that forecast for snow comes to fruition I'll be amazed!

I can personally recall (brief and light) snow on the mountains in the Western-Cape any month between April (Easter) and November. The peak snow season is usually July and August, but there is quite a margin on both sides.

We have a maritime climate, and the oceans adjust slowly to the changing seasons (rule-of-thumb is about 6 weeks). We have plenty of daylight by the Equinox (22 Sep), but temperatures take a long time to rise from their winter peak.

Someone posted a national daily moving IR cloud map for last few hours recently.

Have checked the SA Weather Service site but its so convoluted to navigate and the moving tiny gifs are not what I'm looking for.
Ideally I need a local or at least reliable source for moving low, medium and high cloud in IR (zoomable ) for past 6-12 hours.

P.S It's to correlate my astro weather/seeing/cloud prediction app which is unpredictably in/accurate (like the weather itself :) ) as it probably gets its data from overseas source(s).

Still breathless here. Not a leaf moving.
Clouds have slowly started rolling in though...

Has started drizzling lightly.Wind picked up ever so slightly, has turned from South to fresh N Westerly. 6.30am

Forecast only anticipated rain from midday.

I'm getting ready to build my Ark if this year's incessant rain carries on much longer...

Proper rain started just after 10am in Kenilworth (though not immediately in Rondebosch). Bucketing down by 11am, with gusty wind and sharp drop in temperature.

Edit: An incredible 20mm in gauge here in Kenilworth. Not sure if all of that fell this morning, but plenty wet outside...

It should clear somewhat this afternoon, though it is likely to be a mostly cold and gloomy weekend.
