Just got back from 5 days camping at Theewaterskloof Dam and we had loads of rain this weekend. Dam is looking really great, I haven't seen it this full since 2014

This morning's CoCT figures show Theewaterskloof at 99.6% full, so you would need a microscope to see it much fuller! This is slightly different from the DWA chart, due to calibration differences.

I noticed on one of the earlier reports for rain in the Cape that the rain was not coming in from the traditional NW but rather the SW, I thought it unusual, but what you have said now clears the matter....... (from the west)

South west driven storms are always worse than others.
Watching that cut off low condition closely. Bodes well for the Little Karoo and southern parts of the main Karoo, but comes with flooding risks.
An aside, quite good build ups in Indian Ocean region starting Got the feeling that we will see an early start to the Cyclone season this year.

Just heard it starting up here in Blouberg side. Heard on the radio today that this front is meant to be bringing quite cold temps with snow in parts...

This morning's satellite image (Thurs 1st) shows a moderate intensity cutoff-low positioned over the SW-Cape, while the rest of the cold-front has moved offshore:

Actually not. Only the top of the mountain is getting rain, not the lower catchment areas (so far).

Edit: The cutoff-low will produce rather scattered rain, with the lowest in the center (over Cape Town).

Heard reports of major gusts on Lion's Head. Not sure how accurate they are but given how it is blowing here, I wouldn't be surprised.
