Just got back from 5 days camping at Theewaterskloof Dam and we had loads of rain this weekend. Dam is looking really great, I haven't seen it this full since 2014

This event will be slightly unusual, in that the front will move up from a deep south-westerly position, unlike the normal mid-winter storms. Part of the cold-core upper-trough will detach to form a persistent but relatively weak cutoff-low. This will bring a prolonged period of cold and windy weather for the southern half of SA:

South west driven storms are always worse than others.I noticed on one of the earlier reports for rain in the Cape that the rain was not coming in from the traditional NW but rather the SW, I thought it unusual, but what you have said now clears the matter....... (from the west)![]()
