Rain and storm for Cpt

They ended up building a storm water run off dam in Bridgewater as there were a number of houses flooded here. Fortunately have not needed it yet.

Was 16 November 2013. Some pics from that day. Some people woke up to knee deep water in their bedrooms. My house is fortunately about 750mm above ground level. Oh yes, that's right, it was November. I was in the Tankwa Karoo that weekend and experienced nothing compared to what happened here, I only saw the aftermath when I got home that Sunday afternoon.

My garage floor was wet from the rising Lourensford River, but not much. I was lucky to escape damage.

I just remembered something.
Be vigilant guys

It's extremely noisy outside, and cold.
And it's a full moon for good visibility.

Most people will let their dogs inside tonight.

Be careful of housebreakings !!!!!

.....and just like that, the south easter has just stopped dead still in Somerset West.

Very weird

This winter I've noticed this behaviour a lot more than previous years. Weather switching on and off like that.
Covid19 Storm And It's A Full Moon.
And We Have 2 Full Moons This Month

Where the wind comes from!

Wind speeds vary with altitude (not just the surface isobars), and there can be significant gradients (or not) depending on the prevailing weather system. A cutoff-low produces a strong wind gradient with altitude, while during mid-summer it can be windy in Muizenberg, but dead calm in the CBD/City Bowl.

Slightly off topic, but the different winds can sometimes produce impressive cloud layers:

It stopped for a bit here and then started up again an hour later. The caddy's alarm also tripped when the second howling started.
