The freezing level is pretty much pegged at 1200m. It seldom stays low for an entire day, and then drops further. Snow on Table Mt is very rare, usually only once every 2-3 years.

Edit: On reconsideration of the charts and actual weather (hail, winds and temperature), it seems that a secondary cold front is passing overnight, and light snow is in fact likely on Table Mt.

Probably biggest hail we get. I pulled my car into the garage but not near enough to cause damage. It did hang around for a while. Didn't melt as fast as I expected.
 
Frost level from last night’s event definitely seems lower if I look at the snow on the mountains around me.

And tonight will be colder, I think tomorrow will be a really nice day for Mont Rochelle for playing in the snow

@Gordon_R would there be snow I can go show the kids tomorrow somewhere close to cape Town? The mountains towards Franschoek looks like it's covered in snow, would it be worth driving out there?
 
So you want to show them snow or play in the snow? You will see lots of snow by driving to Franschhoek via Stellenbosch. Playing in snow is going to be a hike.

Mont Rochelle is gonna be an hrs hike if you wanna go play in the snow. Matroosberg is still open and allowing people in this weekend. It's only an hr and a half drive from Cape Town. There you can literally drive right up to the snow

There is always a big difference between seeing snow, and touching it. That requires time, effort, and money. Everyone in Cape Town is asking the same question, and being a weekend, will all want to do it today.

Several people in this thread (including myself) have said that is a bad idea. Rather wait for the clouds to lift, and enjoy a leisurely drive over either of the '4 passses' routes, to enjoy the scenery. See:

Maybe take a drive through the Franschoek pass tomorrow.

Technically there was snow on Table Mt (and I did clarify my post), but it was pretty much a trace event. I'm remembering years when there was so much snow you could see it from Kirstenbosch!
