Now sounding like it's the heaviest it's been raining since it started 24 hours ago.
That spot always floods, not sure why they haven't fixed the drainage there.I got stranded in Paarden Eiland. Road flooded. Water was deeper than I thought - engine completely died, and had to get towed out. My car floated when other vehicles drove past and pushed a wake of water past.
Just hope the engine isn't hydro-locked and will start once everything dries out. It's at the panel beaters for assessment.

Funny enough I've seen council workers cleaning out all the storm water drains along the R27 / Milnterton and in Paarden Eiland over the past two weeks on my daily commute to work and back. They usually do a massive drain clean up just before the winter rains. But that intersection ALWAYS floods!
I drove through there at 1PM on my way to Rondebosch, and managed to wade through. Drove back around 4pm and got stuck. That time alone was enough for the entire road to flood, and it was knee deep! 3 other cars got stranded too in my hour sitting there. Wouldn't be surprised if that section of Service road in Paarden Eiland is closed tomorrow.

The synoptic outlook continues to evolve (as predicted), with the 3rd (and final) front developing SW of CT, and likely to make landfall tomorrow (Tues 14th). Thereafter the South Atlantic High will begin pushing in, bringing very cold conditions, and snow over the high mountains (into Wed 15th).

I'm interested to see what happens at the River Club construction site. I suspect its not great, they have cut off a section of the river which would have absorbed some water and destroyed a lot of the reed bed which holds the bank.
Also all those vehicles parked along the river...

The rain is absolutely bucketing down right now, I can’t see how it can’t go over soon, this weather system has still got a few days left?!
Good point about the construction, I think there is going to be all hell breaking loose there right now, let’s hope the foundations have cured, they are already on the 4th story in some sections
Yeah just as I went outside to empty the meter again. Pretty sure I'm on 77mm now in total already. That must be an outlier for the Northern suburbs not?

So, the average rainy day last year was about 25mm or so.. for Bellville anyway..
