Also got one or two. Wondering if it's worth investigating further though. Wind-driven torrential rain causes all sorts of issues that don't normally occur. It's like taking a hose pipe full tilt at a right angle to a window for an hour. Water is going to get in the tiniest hole, even at the top.

I specifically sealed up an area that was leaking last winter, but it managed to find a way in during this heavy downpour. Less than last year, but it still found a gap somewhere.

I think that's the actual floor height? ... that sign is standing on floor level and water is only ankle deep

Maybe Ape Town is next on the list?

At least in CPT when you phone the Municipality and ask them to come and clean the storm water drains they are there the next day (which is what a relative did)

Another 20mm in our gauge in Kenilworth, 160mm cumulative total. Just got back from walking the dog. My cousin was trying to unblock the stormwater drains in the street in front of his house. Council do clean them, but many autumn leaves at this time of year.

Lots of superficial flooding in the park, but Rondebosch is a high rainfall area. Detention ponds that were bone dry two days ago are now overflowing.

The SAWS reports some impressive rainfall totals in the 24 hours to 8am on Tues 14th. Highest include Kirstenbosch 124mm, Grabouw 122mm, Bellville 105mm, CT Airport 90mm, Molteno Reservoir CBD 89mm, SAAO Observatory 86mm, Robbeneiland 81mm, Franschhoek 80mm, Paarl 76mm, RC Yacht Club 63mm, Atlantis 61mm, etc. Areas away from the mountains and further inland received much less. Also of note was Springbok (NC) 37mm. More widespread rain is likely today.

Edit: The SAEON Dwarsberg (Jonkershoek) rain gauge has sprung back to life, and shows 210mm during the 24 hours to 00h00 on Tues 14th.
