Yes, they should start pumping this week, now that the inflow is secure. (N.B. Eskom may have other plans...)

The Berg River Dam rose nearly 4% during the last 24 hours (to 94.5%). Cumulative inflow should add another 2% during the next 24 hours.

The SAWS reports widespread moderately heavy rain near the western mountain areas of SA during the 24 hours to 8am on Thurs 18th. Highest include Jonkershoek 62mm, Grabouw 39mm, Villiersdorp 37mm, Paarl 27mm, etc. Also of note was Nieuwoudtville (NC) 27mm, etc.

Edit: The latest figures (8am on Thurs 18th) show the average major dam levels for Cape Town up 1.4% (since Mon 15th) at 77.8%. Rain has finally abated about 2.30pm deep South, long after forecasted.

Been a good 36 hours since it started yesterday morning... the longest spell I can recall this winter.

Still raining here in Fish Hoek. Longest spell here was around 1.5 - 2 months ago when it rained about 3 days straight!

I'm past Glen Cairn, but this winter the rain has been so sparse and brief when it has rained, this is longest spell of (almost) uninterrupted rain. Could be the effect of the mountain behind us... I've often noticed when wind has been v strong this side it's been almost still in FH and vice versa.
