We spent the day at Cape Point. It was quite interesting watching the approach of the cold front, and how the wind changed direction in the late afternoon. I would say the chances of rain tomorrow (Monday) are good in the southern suburbs, but a little distant for us in the northern suburbs.

The SAWS ship synoptic chart shows a large and well developed frontal system about to brush the SW-Cape. The suface isobars are unusually low for this time of year (close to 1000 hPa). Rather cool conditions will prevail for the next day or two, as the high behind the front will push air up from the south.

Already been raining for some time in Kenilworth (earlier than I hoped but inlne with forecasts), with significant orographic effects downwind from the mountain. Also very blustery close to the mountain with wild gusts and lulls (feels stronger than many of the cold fronts last year). I was hoping to walk before the rain, but no longer feel so keen...

I was disappointed to read your forecast for the north, after having hooked up my one gutter downspout to the pool..

However, now that my pool level has increased by nearly 2cm over its vast area, I am glad I did not waste my time with the gutter..

Probably little to not at all, given that the ground has been dry for some time now, so not saturated enough to cause run off into the dams..

Exactly what I was thinking.
Ground needs to be well saturated first
Then we have the good run off

The best. Pool is almost at 100% here in Bellville, and will go knocking on the water tanks a bit later.
