Can this be real? That would be absolutely insane.
No.

This is from the Dwarsberg station:

Was first closed for heavy vehicles first. This video is probably why it was then closed for all traffic.

You're very lucky then, Ive seen some footage of houses in Stellenbosch with their roofs ripped right off like a can of mussels

There's a new apartment block on the corner of dorp and Adam tas, opposite the train station, a big chunk of their roof blew off. Saw a few spots on town with that tin roof sheets, no idea where it came from. It was rough.

We were also lucky in the sense that both my cars were parked next to the front door and not next to the garage where i usually park as thats exactly where the roof tiles blew off and was laying this morning.

I am doubting the data simply because of the rainfall numbers.. doubt Stellenbosch would have had any fires if that's the amount of rain that fell in the last 24 hours..

Nah, it hasn't rained much over the last day or so, very little in fact. Even now, there isn't much rain coming down. Just the wind was bad, and even that is better now. The bit if wind outside is very hot though, not too sure what to make of that.

Fish Hoek fire update.
Fire occurred abive Simon’s Town Road and below Echo Road.
26 fire vehicles and 100 Fire fighters have managed to get the fire mostly under control but there is still a risk of flare ups driven by the gale force wind.
Unfortunately 12 houses have been severely damaged or lost.
Fire services will remain on site until there is no further risk.
At the point the cause of the fire is unknown but the city has already activated forensic teams to investigate.
