The outlook for the next week (Fri 5th to Thurs 11th) is the wettest I have seen for a while, with more than 100mm over much of the SW-Cape, and more than 200mm over the mountains:

Sat 6th is looks set for a reasonable start, with mild conditions during the daytime. Storm winds will only arrive around sunset, and rain at midnight. There should be a dry spell on Mon 8th (in between fronts), but the rest of the week looks a write off (and the following weekend doesn't look fantastic).
The level of the Berg River Dam reached 89% this morning (Fri 5th), and it seems likely that it will be overflowing during the middle of next week. Theewaterskloof is currently at 63%, and will take at least a month of heavy rain to begin filling.

9 weather warnings - Damaging winds, rough seas, flooding (and frost).
Snow for higher areas in kouerbokkeveld, 100kmh wind gusts and 100mm+ rain
SUNDAY- An Orange level 6 warning: Disruptive rain leading to flooding of roads and (formal/informal) settlements is expected over the West Coast, City of Cape Town, western Cape Winelands, Valley and Overberg districts of the Western Cape, but yellow level 2 over Matizikama, Cederberg, Hantam, Karoo Hoogland, Lainburg, Kanneland and Hessequa Local Municipalities of the Western Cape.
- An orange level 6 warning: Damaging coastal winds and waves leading to damage of coastal infrastructure along longer stretches of coastline, disruption to harbours/ports, difficulty in navigation with vessels at risk of capsizing, dragging anchors and breaking mooring lines are expected between Alexander Bay and Algoa Bay spreading to Port Edward on Monday.
- An orange level 6 warning: Damaging interior winds leading to structural damage is expected over the southern West Coast, City of Cape Town, western Cape Winelands and western Overberg districts of the Western Cape.

Upped batteries to 80% in case there is damage to power lines.
Heavy 'storm loading' vibes outside right now. Warm, wind starting to pick up, every noise in the distance sounds ominous...
Same here - inside house is colder than outside for the first time I many days.
Outside has nice warm breeze ... so nice my youngest suggested we go for a picnic.

was so pleasant today 22C, nice and warm, got my Skating practice in before the supposed gates of hell open up,
because to me it seems like its just a matter of the bark being worse that the bite,
but I don't know , this Kaapstad has ways of teaching us Vallies things we didnt know were possible.

That's why it helps to have a synoptic chart (above), and an old fashioned barometer. The pressure on mine has been steadily dropping all day, which is a sure sign of a big storm coming. Some of the warnings may be slightly exaggerated, but this is likely to be the most intense cold-front we have had in the last year or two. Heavy rain will arrive between midnight and 5am on Sunday, with gale force winds, and heavy showers and snow later in the day.
