not a cloud in the sky, nice and warm, checking weather SA map, dont even see even one cloud out there,
but do see the warning 100% rain for the next week, is this how things work down here in the WC, calm before the storm kind of bull$hit?

That's why it helps to have a synoptic chart (above), and an old fashioned barometer. The pressure on mine has been steadily dropping all day, which is a sure sign of a big storm coming. Some of the warnings may be slightly exaggerated, but this is likely to be the most intense cold-front we have had in the last year or two. Heavy rain will arrive between midnight and 5am on Sunday, with gale force winds, and heavy showers and snow later in the day.

From 1020 to 997! That is the largest drop I have seen in a single day yet since I took up residence in Vredekloof.
 
Wind starting to become a bit gusty on the Helderberg side. Welcomed the bergwind of earlier, it feels a bit cooled down now outside.

Thunder and lightning already, before the wind and low clouds, is not the normal sequence!

N.B. The high cirrus clouds are a sign...

P.S. There will be significant dry spells in between the fronts (not 100% rain all day next week).

This is fairly unusual, I don't recall a pressure below 1000hPa any time (40 years) on my barometer!?

P.S. In the days of sailing ships, these were the kind of storms that caused shipwrecks in Table Bay harbour.

The main front was fast moving, and passed over the Cape Metropole between 2am and 5am. I recorded 30mm in our gauge in Kenilworth. We are now in the showery phase, with prolonged dry spells, interspersed with heavy downpours. Thundershowers are likely this afternoon as the cold upper air moves in. The wind will remain westerly for most of the day, swinging to south westerly overnight, when snow-levels will reach their lowest. It will remain unsettled until the middle of Mon 8th, with a gap until the next front on Tues 9th.

Well, I had a look at the weather and it's going to be 6 C tomorrow night in DURBAN. Climate change is starting to feel like it's real...
