The AAO index started on its return towards zero, but then went even more negative after the 22nd. Latest forecasts show the index remaining negative for the rest of the month. Pity the forecasted fronts don't have the oomph of the ones earlier in June.

I wonder if the ENSO is the reason why the fronts have diminished somewhat in intensity? Quite fascinating to see how these indices battle it out with each other.
Either way, any rainfall in the mountains now results in run off into the dams.

There is a discussion on "Fokus" , SABC 2 tonight on how the drought is affecting Sutherland and surroundings. May be worth a watch.

Hmmm. The Front that reaches the country on Wednesday is forecast to bring a fair amount of rain and even snow to high lying areas later in the day.

There seem to be very divergent views on the forecasted rain that may result from the cold front arriving tomorrow Wednesday. From virtually no rain to over 80% chance of rain over CT and surroundings.

That usually means orographic rain over the mountains, and less elsewhere. Different models struggle to interpret the rugged terrain of the SW-Cape, and make various approximations (all very hard to interpret). Likely to be quite wet (25-50mm) in places!

Very wet in Kenilworth (haven't checked numbers yet).

Edit: 30mm on rain gauge up to 9am! Quieter since then.

SAEON Dwarsberg recorded 8mm between 5am and 6am, plus 15mm up to 7am!

Edit: Another 14mm and 10mm on Dwarsberg up to 9am. Close to 50mm in 4 hours!

I just drove a motorbike through this ****. Roads are flooding, nearly killed myself driving through about a foot of water bubbling out of an overflowing manhole cover in the dark. All my clothes are completely soaked through, all the way to my underwear. What a way to start the day. Yay for the dams though?

LOL, that's why you drive a damn car! Asking for your own death by driving a motorbike in this weather.

Biked in myself, definitely get some good wet weather gear. I recommend "Oxford", bone dry this side. I also keep a change of cloths at the office for just in case.

Started at 5am on the dot, have not stopped since.

And then I promptly went down nose first into the mud when walking down to work because it was slippery and I was walking fast. Great start to the day. You probably not on your "gatsaag" today?

Let's just say I won't be using two wheels at 150km/h early on a rainy day like today....

But tomorrow it is back to two wheels for me.

All fun, just look out for the puddles. I'm way to much of a wuss to take chances like that, especially with so many morons driving around this town.
