I blame everyone here who wished the rain away. This heat is bitter.

The other day I wasn't even 30 minutes out in the sun and now I almost look like Freddy Krueger.

The blame here sits squarely on that water phobic nai @The_Mowgs ..

I picked up a cast-iron garden implement that had been sitting in the sun yesterday. Instant regret! Felt like about 70C, and my hands were stinging for about an hour...

@Gordon_R, have you noticed a deterioration in the SAWS website of late? No satellite pics are easily available, poor and late updates on the Synoptic charts and generally poor access via non-FB and X portals.

I only look at the aviation stuff and ship synoptic charts. The rest of the SAWS site is a bit of a mishmash.

Rather heavy orographic rain late in the day (Mon 20th). SAEON Dwarsberg (Jonkershoek catchment) recorded 54mm up to midnight. Seems to be quiter this morning, but clouds are likely to linger for a while.

Satellite has been down for a while, no idea why, so I use EUMETSAT at the moment

7mm for Betty's Bay during the night

A weak cold front brushed past the SW-Cape this morning (Fri 8th) with minimal effects. A combined surface high and cold core upper trough behind the front has transitioned into a weak cutoff low, with Black South Easter conditions develping this evening. Forecasts range from 2-5mm for CT itself, with somewhat more rain likely in the Overberg.

My dad in Betty's Bay got a lot more .... measured 10mm this morning ...

Dry winds and summer fire season have started (despite the recent sprinkle of rain). The Milnerton webcam shows a modest fire on Tafelberg Rd on Table Mt:

Nice breeze in Cape Town today .. some joggers going backwards near Clifton and Camps Bay.
