Afrihost tried something like this and learned the hard way last I recall.

One way to really mess customer service up.
So glad i dont have a product with them anymore

Good luck with that. Hope they have a comprehensive service contract of what is covered and what not.

Well, in the time I were with them, 90% of the time I got no support, arogant awnsers and unrelated useless scripted awnsers, countless unanswered emails and even more support logs that was just closed without solutions.

And now that same support staff is worried about layoffs, bit late now, only if you did your jobs with integrity, pride and customer service over the last couple of years, this might not have been happening now

WIPRO... screwed up many a call-centre. Why appoint and train local people, it's not like we have an unemployment crisis?
To train someone you would need to know a little about the topic. Rain knows nothing which reflects in their level of service.

I remember when I ran my own small hosting company, I outsourced a call centre but people kept calling me directly. Yes, it was a really small hosting company

WIPRO prouds themselves for upliting poor youngsters in India. Speaks to the roots of the company. Admirable. However....
They'll use the local staff to teach the foreign staff, and the locals will resign and find themselves alternative employment, allowing WIPRO to attain cost savings using foreign staff and the local company to offload some costs.

Yup, I've seen this play with WIPRO as an actor before.

Good luck to all affected!

Really people. The Amazon Call Centre here caters for Germany and some for other countries. Many companies have outsourced to companies abroad. A lot of local finance houses have contracts with German companies for support or Indian companies for development.

And the best thing is, most Indian Graduates have Master of Science Degrees with Six Sigma Black Belt and Lean. They are well educated, clever and willing to work very hard.

I work with a lot of top techie IT Engineers from India. Some may be confusing but some are really great, and much better than any local staff.

clever , willing and work very hard are very noble attributes. However do they actually implement technologies using best practices or take shortcuts to get the job done ?

Best of all...
Rain said it is not retrenching as it ensured that all staff would keep their jobs.

They follow the rules, but then again they are willing to work hard to figure it out, not just get stuff on a silver platter. For many tech jobs is a way to get out of the caste system and go up in the world. And so they are willing to work hard.

I had one the other day assist me with getting stuff working on the cloud, whereas the cloud provider would send us a DIY guide without really any assistance. It took a lot of effort, but we got it done.
