similar situation....
I cancelled Rain in early 2023, as reception was useless, I made sure to pay the correct amount owed at the time. I cancelled with them, and switched over to Afrihost. After I cancelled, I noticed that Rain were still trying to bill me for money owed. Queried this, and said there were a few months, in which data had been used, that haven't been paid for, this is because apparently payment doesn't kick in till a few months later. I since heard nothing from them, and eventually went on to forget about it. I have since fallen ill with mental health related complications, and had to temporarily move to New Zealand, for what would have been a holiday, but ended up staying indefinitely.
I have had a lot on, in this past year. However the fact is, I have always attempted to pay my bills when due. I am not attempting to deny responsibility. Yes, I did consume the data, Rain should have been more clear on that billing only kicks in a few months later. I had completely forgotten about this, I was only reminded when I got a SMS sent to my SA number about my account being handed over to debt collectors. I have over R1400 owing.........
I don't know what this will achieve, I have just over R1000 in my account, which I use to pay my remaining debt orders in SA, I don't take out, or get anything on credit, so a dent in my credit score won't really affect me that much. I would have appreciated it more, instead of Rain sending me messages, and emails about getting special re-connection deals, if I went back with them, they should rather have notified me that this account is outstanding. I wasn't warned, this is just out of the blue.
I won't be paying them a cent, till I have some sort of engagement with their customer service representatives.
