Yeah I saw that to. I get like 50-60Mbps to Rain speedtest but any other server including mybb I get over 300Mbps.
Same here 40-60 on rain -on MyBB 230-280 -one huge discrepancy -hope they fix it

How about this high ping and the extremely low download speed? My connection has been like this for most of this week.

And its no use reporting to Rain as nothing gets done. I have opened 3 previous tickets with Rain for similar poor performance and nothing has been done.

Is that on 4G or 5G?

After a couple of weeks of horrendous connection issues on 5G, copious amounts of disconnects and in-game shenanigans I have to say something happened on Thursday. From Thursday I have only had 1 disconnect and latency related issue in game. The entire weekend including Friday I've been getting close to 300 down and 60 up again on every speed test no matter what time of day, and my games are SMOOFFFFFF. YAY.

PC MASTER RACE sir.

COD MW, COD Warzone, CS GO all seemed perfect, pings 30ish which is my usual ping on 5G to local services. The physical ping does not worry me that much as it does other players. Without sounding like a douche I'm a high K/D player so anything under 60 to local servers gets the job done for me, I can work around a higher than normal ping without too much issue. Over that 60ish threshold it starts becoming an issue specially if you play SBMM-based games.

What matters to me is the fact that I had just about zero of the "rubberbanding" effects in my games this weekend, no latency related frustration etc. My games felt and played very smooth which was great.

True but it's a fibre cable directly into your house. Connected to a pc via cable again. Compare that with Rain 5G. I get between 150-350Mbps and my closest tower is ~900m away. That is 900m of wireless and the router is indoors at a window so if I mount it properly could probably improve a lot.

Now let's talk price.

Rain uncapped 5G (150-350Mbps) R999.
Afrihost 200/100Mbps fibre R1497.

I would need a 200Mbps line + a 100Mbps line to get to the Rain 5G peak speed. The fibre is more stable and consistent no doubt it's not even in question because it's wired vs wireless. The total on fibre will be around R1497 + R1117 200+100Mbps so roughly R2614 for fibre on Openserve to match the speak speed of Rain.

Even with all their downs the value that the R999 Rain 5G premium offers is pretty good especially if you compare it the more expensive fibre networks. Frogfoot and Vumatel 1Gbps kicks Rain out of the park in value for money, speed and price though.

If you don't have the R1749 for Vumatel install then this is a great option. If you don't have fibre Rain 5G pretty much kicks LTE, Wirelesss and ADSL's butt.

You describe perfectly why it is hard for me to leave Rain. During the lockdown, I was downloading terabytes of stuff without much effort. Lately, I have moved my Plex content to the cloud and I am streaming everything and Rain is more than capable of handling several streams. At that price, nothing gets close.

Why would you want to run a ping test every 30 minutes? Do you realise if EVERY single person on the Internet did this all the time, The entire Internet will be busy with nothing else?

I have google suite which give me unlimited storage. I then use rclone on my Plex server (raspberry pi) to mount the Google drive folder containing my media. (rclone allows you to encrypt you data if you don't want google snooping - mine is not encrypted and I have not had any issues yet) PM me if you need more info.
