Still having the same issues with slow and unstable connection since that outage on 31 March/ 1 April. My ticket was sent to the technical department on Tuesday, but I have not heard since. Sometimes we have both 4G and 5G and then everything drops. The signal is horrible for some reason (4G is down from 4/5 bars to 2 and the 5G down to 3 bars from 4). Even a factory reset did not solve the issue.
This is worrying because the upload is basically nothing, and when online classes start it will be a big problem for me. Parent work from home during lockdown involves them uploading big documents for emails etc. It took my mother 20 min to upload a 5mb file for an email.

I just hope Rain can fix whatever is wrong.

(My first post here, yay)

I've been having the same issues with Rain. Initially I thought its my router (Huawei E5186). Borrowed my neighbour's B315-936 and had the same issue...piss poor download speeds but the upload speeds of the Gods of Networking. With the same results.

On the borrowed router I ran the rain huawei band tool. So now with the band tool I get usable download speeds but crappy upload. For the last few day its has been ok to use. Fun times. I was thinking of doing the upgrade to the R470 unlimited but I am not so sure.

I have not fiddled any more with my router, the borrowed one seems to work just fine.

Stay far away from the unlimited its the worse decision you would ever make ,they say that you can get speeds of up to 10Mbps but you will never see that I cannot even get 1Mbps ,the worst speed ever on the unlimited

yea if you're getting subpar results now without an external antenna there's a greater chance the 24 hour package may be worse for you, but to balance MoDada's post, I've had constant 10/10 speeds for the past month (with tiny exceptions of disconnects around after midnight but that hasn't happened again since) so it just highly depends, I wish all the best for you tho.

What are those "usable download speeds" ? What speeds are you getting now exactly?

+-5Mbps when doing a speed test, using the android app or from within a browser. It does depend on the time of day though. And general browsing is good.

Speed does seem to go a bit pear shaped around 5pm, then get better after a few minutes.

Forgot to add, with external paddle antennas on both routers, I get more signal bars but not necessarily better signal strength. If that makes any sense.

I'd like to get proper antennas, but l guess I have to wait a while.

The connection is really unstable. I used to get 250+ Mbps downloads and exactly 10Mbps uploads during the first month of my 5G package. Now I am lucky if I can get 15Mbps download and 3Mbps upload. My Vodacom connection downloads constantly about 50Mbps, not to mention the upload speeds.
The unlimited 5G connection is not stable enough to have conference calls (which I have a lot of), can't run any sort of meeting from home.

Someting really wierd is going on...I get 3 - 5 mbps speed on 4G Uncapped 24/7 during peak (18.00 - 23.00), but no internet throughput during off peak (23.00 - 18.00) I think tower I am connecting is heavy congested, only time I can use internet on 4G Uncapped 24/7 is during peak hours. Rest of time, it is completely dead with full signal. Hopefully Rain fix this soon. (Leeuwkuil Plot, Seshego Polokwane area)

MFCS rain - is it too much to ask for a reasonable signal that doesn't drop. Even if it is just a constabt 10 Mbps for 1 day. Surely it's not unreasonable to expect this.
