Doringkloof has a 5G tower. You thinking of switching over to 5G?
For some reason RAIN does not give me that option, but between RAIN 4G (R250) and my Telkom uncapped (R575) it is enough speed for me. I do have to count my cents now, got a retrenchment notice.

Constant disconnects, this is getting annoying! Resetting my router does not work. Every time this happens I need to get Afrihost to refresh my connection.

Constant disconnects for me as well these last few days. Annoying as all hell. Getting fed up with rain having a brand new issue every few weeks.

Even though I don't like to be limited by data, especially because I use rain for work as well, I might just have to switch over to something a bit more expensive. Even though my budget doesn't allow it, I'm willing to pay R299-R399 for something else.

Can anyone recommend me another LTE service that isn't contract-based? It must also not be limited to certain routers.

Afrihost is launching Pure LTE via the MTN network today. I am dropping Rain and the 135GB I have and switching to that.

Been 2 months sending mails to them regarding my connection dropping to almost nothing with no response from Rain.

Afrihost already has Telkom LTE.
I am also waiting in anticipation for the MTN offer.
Not keen to go the Supersonic route since, I have to buy their router and the feedback on the forum has not been great about this service provider.
Rain is back to being pathetic after good peak hour speeds this weekend.
Their support people are doing a great job of ignoring issues logged with their online chat team. Does tier 2 support even exist since every escalation gets no response?

Yes, better looking than Supersonic. The price wars are on!
Only downside is the compatible router purchase. Might have to bite the bullet and subscribe for 6 months.

I'm still waiting to switch over to something else. My monthly data that I use is at least 200GB a month and so far I have found nothing that can beat rain's uncapped deal.

These new MTN deals initially made it a lot harder for me to keep sticking around, but then I saw the following:

"Please note that Pure LTE products are locked to a single location (specified by the client on signup). Service is only available using compatible LTE devices (specified by us)."

So I can't use it wherever I go and I can also only use it in 4 specific routers.

This throws affordability and usability straight out the window.

Thus, I'm still stuck.

But rain was also fixed LTE which means you are still locked to a tower unless I am mistaken
