Rain Mobile Feedback Thread

So as many are asking the maximum range you can be away from the tower. I did a test recently on a ferry. I could still pick up signal with a mifi 45 km from land. 6 down and 2 up. So with a proper antenna and LOS you could easily do better than that.

Yes, unfortunately I am. Used to get an average 20Mbps even up to 45Mbps.

Issues started around the 29th of May.
Have used various devices to test, two routers two Sims all the same.

When I test with Telkom LTE then everything is fine.

Will give them till the end of the month to hopefully sort it out.
 
I am noticing my Rain connection in my Huawei b315 becomes pretty useless in the mornings everyday. I normally have to restart the router a few times, it normally comes back to normal around 9:30am, very strange.
 
My Rain connection is now totally useless. Web pages time out. Downloads go at 5 KB/s.

I was hoping it will come right but it is getting worse day by day. I've logged complaints four times the past four weeks with no help from them. I have finally had to give up on it. Turned off the Rain router today and only using Telkom LTE now (which is fast). Will need to upgrade from Smartdata 50 (which is actually 100 GB anytime) to Smartdata 100 (which is actually 200 GB anytime). Will only cost R50 more than the Rain + Telkom combo I've been running. It's a pity as I liked having two networks for redundancy.

Where can I see more information on this deal from Telkom and how much do you pay if you want to take it out now?

Well the good news is it is month to month so nothing stopping you from cancelling with rain if you're not satisfied with their service

Yip, did it today.

Pity, I was getting 40 Mbps for 8 months and then it deteriorated rapidly the past 6 weeks. No matter how many complaints I lodged they couldn't be arsed. Terrible support.

Why not go with the Telkom June deal of uncapped for R899?
