Since I have been fiddling with forcing the band my connection has gone from bad to worse. The whole weekend as well as today I only have sporadic internet and then the speeds are pathetic.
Using the Ookla Speedtest I only have a choice of connecting to servers in Johannesburg 70 km away no local ones as I used to. I am unsure if I understand it correctly but does that mean that I am receiving a signal from a tower in Joburg? It seems too far away. Right now Ookla won't even connect but the MyBroadband Speedtest does and this is the result

Download: 8.65Mbps
Upload: 0.08Mbps
This is the fastest D/L speed I have had for awhile but U/L is still very poor

Can you post a screen shot of the show signal strength no clear bat file please? It won't be picking up a tower that far away.

That SiNR value is really high, I am assuming it is on the 1800 band right now, we only have an SiNR of like 8 or 9 when our speeds are 50-60mbps down. That tower must be congested or something. So even moving your antenna around the house, you can't seem to pick up a signal on 2600TDD?

I have an external antenna on a pole on the roof so I have not tried moving it around as I need someone else to monitor the readings on my PC while I am turning it. I am waiting on an answer from Rain as to where my nearest towers are and I also asked them at what frequency they broadcast.
In the meantime I borrowed a friends 315 modem today who also had Rain but who has now moved to MTN, just to check the settings to see if I have done something wrong, but the settings are the same as mine.
Looking at the Signal strength today the RSRP varies -91/92/93, RSRQ: -3, RSSI: -93/103, SINR: varies 15/16/17/18/19 and Cell is still 0
What does Cell=0 mean? I see your example shows what signal stats you have. Does 0 mean I don't have a signal?

That doesn't mean you're getting no signal, as the rest of the signal stats are decent, that SINR is very good. I'm not so sure about the Cell=0, we haven't had that show on ours.

Likely just means a misconfigured cell ID or a stat the tool does retrieve. I won't worry about it.

If you don't have signal you will not get any figures on RSRP and SINR

After no/very poor connection yesterday and for most of today I have now suddenly got a very good D/L speed of 40 mbps measured with MyBroadband speedtest on my desktop. Upload still bad at < than 1mbps.
Ping: 29ms
Download: 40.27Mbps
Upload: 0.77Mbps
I contacted Axxess helpdesk yesterday and after sending them my D/L &U/L speeds as well as the signal strength as measured with the Huawei band tool, they must have done something but I haven't heard from them.

I ran an extension chord and put the router in the bathroom. I am get between 5 and 10mbs now. So it is pretty much permanently there. I can't afford an antenna

What would be a decent snr?

I just checked my snr now and it is showing 0db. The bathroom is the only place that gave me better speeds. Check it through out the house.

alright, 0 is way better than what you had before...at worst ours goes down to around 4 with the antenna when something is wrong out there with the tower, right now it's at 8 and pulling 50mbps, in it's current position the best it's been is 13db...when we put the antenna in the optimal position (haven't run cables that far yet) it pulls 80mbps+, not sure what the snr was when it was there.

the other values are meaningful too, like the rsrp and rsrq...

I usually bitch a moan about Rain ...so yesterday their top customer support guy Faiz called me and we discussed my issues over a 20 minute phone call...they called me back after i left a ticket at their support site....magically overnight all my speeds are up and 5g CPE is working like the day they installed it i average 200-250 Mbps and my other complaint upload speed was fixed...Rain can fix things when there on the right program amazing how when things just work there are no complaints.

Since this morning FULL Rain Network LTE and 5G signal and all is working 100% and speeds are up 50-80%...happy camper....no new site ...im on the same cell ID as ive always been...........so no new towers....happy happy camper....

Yes, fair enough, however, those numbers are negatives besides SiNR, so having a lower negative number technically means a higher number, but really, it's a lower negative anyway.

I think I understand what you're trying to say, but i'm not sure you understand what 'technically' means either.
Negative numbers is not a particularly difficult concept to grasp and there aren't multiple meanings for lower or higher.
-5 is a higher number than -12 and 12.5 is higher than 7. That's all to it.
