Rain to offer prepaid services

Rain has revealed that it is getting ready to sell prepaid products during a presentation at the Avior Corporate Summit.

The network operator's CEO, Brandon Leigh, said Rain has the necessary functionality to offer prepaid services.

Need prepaid so we can just do once off payments rather than debit order. Considering the service levels.

I don't think this will be implemented because it has to compete with R250 price plan, it won't make since to pay R10 for 1GB "25GB" for R250 while off peak offer unlimited data price plan is same price

Yes R10 GB might be 24/7/365 validation but i could settle for off peak unlimited data plan
And since rain don't you USSD stream, it could mean one has to login via App to purchase data via bank card

My thinking is rain won't waste money on distribution partnership they will go with online service and EFT/Debit Order payment gateway
I don't think they will have "airtime payment gateway"

I know those 4g towers are overwhelmed as it is.

“We are currently preparing for prepaid offerings. We have got the functionality,” Leigh said.
“Prepaid is a huge part of the [South African] market… We will offer prepaid to reach more customers.”
You fixed your network capacity constraints yet, you numpty?

Uncapped
24hrs R29
48hrs R49
7day R159

This would be ideal for me.

Dear Mr Leigh. It seems you are going forward but your foundation is a time bomb. The only listed support email says it is not attended to. I have had to cancel since I never get anyone to respond unless i pretend to want a new product. I go days without proper internet and now they have stopped the internet as they should but have also taken the money off my account. They have promised me a 25% discount for the troubles which i never received and now you owe me money for the bounced debit as well as for the week i did not have internet. The frustration of dealing with uour company has been more than what the speed is worth. I can only wanr everyone to not use Rain. I can also ask Broadband to do a story from the other side. Many many people have problems with the above

Could have potential as a backup solution for fibre.
If your Fibre needs a back up, you got the wrong one.... Been on fibre for 4 straight years... Not a single day of downtime... Fibre is the back up

First 3 months and over a dozen outages, it wasn't even 3 weeks from the network going live that it became congested at peak times.

The joys of Vuma Reach.

Until one day a tree branch falls off and breaks your aerial fibre, or an fool with a TLB digs in the wrong place and breaks your underground fibre, or a....
