Hi all,

Anyone using Rain in Hermanus? I use my Rain sim as secondary internet - and I'm finding it extremely slow (like way below 1mbps). Even though according to their site, I am 1.3km away from nearest tower. My modem also shows 80% signal.

Also, I don't get how they don't have any support number/email/postbox/pigeon/snail/fax/morse code. Like at all?

danke

It's probably congestion.

In part, not much any of the operators can do about spectrum - you can only use what the government/ICASA allocates, but at the same time they should manage it better and essentially refuse signups once a tower reaches a certain level of usage.

I've used it in Voelklip. Not great. CellC 500GB deal worked better.

Where are you and where's the tower? Last time I checked I couldn't get the location of the closest tower...

in Onrus - their closest tower is close up in Berghof. I used it quite a lot last year without any issues - not sure why the slow speed is an issue now. I’ve also tried different times of day - same result

thanks, yes that I understand. But I’ve tried different times/days same result. Not sure if its a congestion problem. I am however going to test tomorrow morning early early AM :)

Could really also be international bandwidth they are lacking, but I would imagine that should be cheap enough by now?

Not sure what RAIN is doing to upset so many people.

Might be a good idea to get overall feedback from people that used iBurst back in the day. From my faint memory, people weren't very happy with iBurst back then either.

People were not happy at all with iBurst well lets put it those that knew what internet was. The special needs that just did email would have been fine
It was terrible though

Yeah, iBurst wasn't the best. Luckily my ADSL is now back up :)
