Rain's mobile network quality is falling

I've just turned off my unlimited off-peak on Rain, but I haven't cancelled my SIM. I'm going to leave it like this in the hope that something improves down the line.

This is actually a damn good idea. So if you dont use the sim, you remain subscribed but dont pay a cent.

Hopefully yes, I don't pay a cent. The website said that from August onwards, off-peak unlimited will be turned off.

Here's a snippet of the e-mail confirmation that I've received:
Hi, you've successfully removed unlimited off-peak data from your plan. You will revert back to pay as you use on 31-Jul-2019.

The issue is that people have a lot of expectations based on being early adopters but those expectations are rarely realistic. Speed is very subjective and people will overemphasise it. There are legitimate complaints like on all networks but most people complaining can't show it on speedtests and it's still better than what I get on Cell C and Vodacom.

And it is impossible for them to see your sim number by you just providing them with your details?
Maybe they're not authorised to access the accounts?

Where on the website does it say this, as I cannot find it? Screenshot or link please?

Yeah I'm thinking of doing the same come December. Will be leaving SA that month and if I do come back for family visits, I'll switch back to the Unlimited Off-Peak. But I doubt that the same R250 offer will be available in Q4 2019 if they roll out their 5G options/plans. Also not sure if Rain will discontinue/recycle your sim number if they see it's been inactive for a long period of time. Let's wait and see...

I am generally happy with Rain, as they are welcome relief from these overcharging networks. Mostly I am getting +25Mbps, but around 10Mbps between 8am and 3pm, obviously cos of businesses. It's been working fine till now and I did 290Gbs so far this month.

That said for the last couple days I am getting specific(looks like it's almost intentional) intermittent ping timeouts. My equipment and location has not changed. Every 2 to 3mins I get packets lost for 4 requests exactly(see pic). It's infuriating when streaming.

I have reinstalled my drivers to make sure, but no change. Anyone else experiencing this? Any solutions?

Can a Rain rep comment please. I am in Kensington JHB.
