Ramphele, DA confusion

Ok. Here's the big thing. I've given up on Dagang and its shenanigans. Following it makes The Neighbours look like a reality show.
But... VOTE!
We don't care who you vote for and I'm probably going to flip a coin come election day (Probably DA as they are the biggest opposition, or Dagga Party)
But don't vote ANC. That's the big thing.
(It would be awkward if everyone votes EFF because they probably won't get a lot of votes and they get majority. :erm:)

Oh this untruth again. The WC has always been well run be it under the NP, ANC or DA.

How do you like the DA's liqour law? No wine for you after 6 pm. Nanny state ftl.

I would happily buy my dop before 6 if it means everything else is run like a tight ship.

Small price to pay compared to pot holes and e-tolls really.

Agree lol, what's with this? It's not like it's milk or bread and needed for the kids lunchboxes... unless you're from the plein or grassy park... or some parts of Parow :D

But the DA is still without doubt the better party. Just look at the WC compared to other provinces. Then again, it is not very hard to be seen in a better light than under Zuma's ANC. This 'confusion' is unlikely to sway ANC or DA voters either way. At the very best, a tiny minority of DA supporters will switch to another minority party or simply not vote at all. Just look at the ridiculous bias of News24 commenters and you'll see what I mean. No analysis at all - just everything the DA does is wonderful and everything the ANC does is rubbish.

What's so great about the western cape? Crime and poverty galore.

Compared with the shining beacon that is any of the other anc run provinces probably.

:D
Have to love the 'WC is a cesspit' crowd. I have no idea what they're comparing it to.
I'm guessing they believe people in the WC have no toilets or something.

Drive from Cape Town to Somerset West. The squalor along the N2 is hardly something to be proud of.

Western Cape 3rd richest province in SA (a whisker behind KZN) as measured by contribution to South Africa's GDP. Can't find per capita figures right now, but I suspect WC would be ahead of KZN if I used that metric.

Much of the crime in the WC is related to gangs...so if you not a member of a gang, life is much better. I also don't particularly care about gang members shooting other members...police should let them kill each other :p.

Still moaning about that? :p

They're publishing new by-laws that change that, btw. So what's your view of them now, seeing as though they seemed to have listened to the public on this issue?

And yeah, when last did you venture into any of your surrounding provinces, or the ones more north?

Not sure what you think I was saying, but it wasn't that the WC is perfect or has no challenges. I was pointing out that Midnight_choir_drunk was trying to say the WC is crap... but failed to offer an example of a good province. Do I think the WC is a wonderful place? NO. I do think my own yard is the nicest place in SA though.

Should have consulted the public first rather than ram down dumb laws and then backtrack.

unfortunately a lot of innocent people, including children, become victims of gang war.

The WC has the highest murder rate in the country.

Where did you get this result?

EDIT:

Joelus check here:

Article - September 27 2006:

http://www.iol.co.za/news/south-afr...-the-highest-crime-rate-1.295386#.Uu4XQPmSxIk

The highest number of people were murdered in the Eastern Cape during the 2005/2006 financial year, but the Western Cape had the highest murder ratio per 100,000.

Then check the graphs here:

Don't know the accuracy on this site, http://www.crimestatssa.com/, but it can assist.

Was misinformed I guess. Anyway it's actually irrelevant to what I was saying. Chris said " also don't particularly care about gang members shooting other members...police should let them kill each other " so I was pointing out that unfortunately innocents are often victims of gang violence so chris' idea isn't really a good one. iaywtimnbe telling me it happens all over the country isn't really relevant to my point, I shouldn't have responded to it
