Has anyone been able to sort out the random system lockups on a Win2K system yet. I've read in previous posts that I'm not the only one experiencing this problem. It is a totally random lockup, as it can happen after 20 minutes, or sometimes up to 12 hours. Your PC just locks up, no error, no event logging, nothing. I thought it was my machine (I only use top notch components such as Genuine Intel Boards and Kingston memory), but after reading this forum, I've realised that it has something to do with the Sentech modem drivers, or settings in the registry (As I don't use the modem dialler, just a normal DUN entry). It must be something to do with their drivers and the USB port. I've even tried "Rodents" USB tweaks, but it still happens. It has nothing to do with their TCP IP patches, as it still happens with these installed, or removed.

I did find that after 14hours and d/l allot you need to restart if your using XP check your memory usage I checked mine and it was on 700MB which is excessive :) after a reboot it behaved possibly look for a memory manager.

I originally had my modem connected to a P4 2.6G PC (512MB mem, XP pro) and in the morning we found it had hung at some time or other during the night...happened a few times. Since connecting the modem to a P3 1G (512MB mem, XP home) I have never had this problem [:)]

I have had my modem for a few weeks now, and if you check the signal strength it is between 2% and 12%, operating on a windows 2000 prof., and I have never had any problems with connecting or lock-ups. Maybe I am lucky, and I am touching some wood as I say this.[:)]
