Raspberry Pi 2 Model B surprise launch, local pricing

@ P924 Was not aware one could select what you allowed an Android App to access - thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Yes, it is off topic, but now that I know it can be done, I will consult Uncle Google for the details.

Others have reported Yatse to be a good app, but I may be a little on the paranoid side ...

So...anyone selling their old RBP's to make way for the new model? :D

Is there a market?

I'm sure there would be. If I could pick one up for R200 or thereabouts I'd go for it :)

But I am sure most people would just repurpose them and find another use for them

Got mine. Microsd card on the slow boat from another supplier. Going to give it a spin with raspbian for our wallboards and after that openelec

Anyone got theirs yet and installed Kodi?

got mine all set up.. works like a bomb... you can also put skins on no problem. something i really missed on the old pi :)

just a note on downloading openelec..... make sure you scroll down and download the image or Raspberry PI 2... else you will be scratching your head when openelec boots to that rainbow boot logo and just sits there :P

So what were to happen if your RBP was on your TV stand and direct sunlight fell on it? Or would that not be able to set it off?

This is assuming it isn't in a protective housing or anything

No, a LED flash will not trigger the effect, and sunlight even less ...

Besides, you should not be running your RPi naked ... :)

From later in that forum thread, when U16, an SMPS chip (so in the power circuit) platzes due to wild ringing from a Xenon *flash* source. And apparently a green laser pointer will set it off too.

The ringing even happens with the Pi totally unplugged:

The culprit IC (~10 o'clock from the HDMI port):

Punnet type paper cases are easy enough to print, cut out, and fold, so a case for your RPi can be made on the cheap. Thus protecting you little precious from numerous mis-adventures.

Just got mine. MicroSD card won't latch. Seems to be a fairly common issue.

Anyone familiar with how RS's replacement/returns work?
