Raspberry Pi 2 Model B surprise launch, local pricing

Anyone got theirs yet and installed Kodi?

Mine arrived this morning but I wasn't at home... Cue trek this evening to DPD depot to collect it... Worth it :-) Installed OpenElec on it as soon as it was out of the anti-static bag!

720/50p H264 DVB off-air recordings at around 13Mbs play very well. The CPU is in <2% territory on all cores. I think there may be the odd dropped/skipped frame - but it is a very early release of the code.
1080/50i H264 Blu-rays mastered at around 35Mbs play well as well - de-interlaced to 50p. Again the odd dropped/skipped frame possibly.
This compares VERY well to an Intel Quad Core Atom Z37xx series box...

When bitstreaming I got occasional DTS drop-outs. If I switch to decoding, it's rock solid. Again this is only a couple of days old.

1080/23.976p H264 Blu-ray rips (lossless rips to Blu-ray folders) are playing impeccably.

Speed of navigation is awesome. Subjectively this is as good as a Chromebox for progressive content (the Chromebox probably still has the edge with interlaced 1080i stuff).

The UI is really snappy. And the thing is silent and £27. That's ridiculous.

(It's also ridiculous that it was announced at midnight on Sun/Mon and I have it in my hands on Tuesday at 7pm. That's pretty impressive)

Has anyone found a case for this unit as RS does not have any from the mail i got :(

Anyone have ETA on delivery from RS?

Originally when I ordered it was 2-3 days IIRC. Yesterday they delivered my case and power supply and when I checked the site ETA was 5 Feb. Today it's at 20 Feb. Order cart gives no indication of ETA from what I can see. I would assume orders are being fulfilled FIFO?

Your order confirmation email shows expected delivery date.

I bought 2 generic USB Dual Shock Gamepads, and turned mine into a RetroPie gaming console. Plays ATARI, NES, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, SNES, SEGA Genesis and Master System games nicely :).

pics or link to how you put it all together pretty please....

I have one lying in a cupboard

Hi Guys

IF you order the unit, what don't you get, and what do you need. I'm a total noob obviously, but I'd like to make-my-own-media-player / smart tv. (I actually don't have a TV, yet. But I'd even just use my monitor or just lug it around as a tiny computer?)

Or maybe I just want one cause it sounds cool.

Basically you need a power supply, the RPi board and that is it, if you are going to run it headless. Which is what I do, connected via a network cable to my switch. A case is recommended, tho you can make one out of cardboard if you want.

If you need to operate it like a normal computer, then a usb keyboard and mouse and a Tv with composite or HDMI connectors is needed, a computer monitor with HDMI input also works.

There is also a lot of items you can add to your RPi ...

All up to you ...

The Cases on there site is not for sale as per the mail from RS this is why i am asking if there are cases out there.

"Please be informed that article number 8193655 is not for sale regardless of availability and these have been removed from sale for now until the correct and compatible cases become available."

They just updated there website.......
