Raspberry Pi 2 Model B surprise launch, local pricing

Anyone seen any benchmarks comparing XBMC/Kodi performance? I found the Type B to be very slow but then I had my main HTPC as a comparison.

How exactly do you power it? What kind of power supply do you use? Can you use a generic cellphone charger?
You're going to want 5V 2A dc. So, if that charger can push that, then sure, no reason not to. Or, as I've learned works well on the first-gen Pi, power it from a USB3 hub, which has the added benefit of giving you moar USB ports (that can handle hi-current devices like 2.5" drives and the more power-hungry Wi-Fi dongles.

I. Must. Have. This. (DarkSpectre's foaming uncontrollably at his mouth)

This is awesome! I might order me one next month or so :)

Just out of interest sake. MyBB and the RS-Online website lists the RPi 2 as R446.86 ex vat.
After doing my actual order, the price changed to R418.60 ex vat.
So the actual price with vat is below R500, or R477.21 to be exact.
You mean after logging in, they showed you your discounted pricing? Create a new account and see if the same happens. If I log in and go to the rpi 2 page, the price displayed is the discounted price, no need to order first.

This is a comment from hacker news.

Note: Windows 10 on Pi 2 will be an IoT platform, not a desktop OS.
You'll develop your app in Visual Studio on a Windows PC and deploy it to the Pi.
Raspbian will continue to be the main supported OS.

Looks like the Pi2 has gone microSD. Finally!

Edit: I see now the B+ was also microSD, hadn't realised.

Tempted to get me one - my current PI running openelec stutters on Blu Ray rips (+-50gb) with usb external hdd.

Do you still have to pay VAT+import duties+clearance if you order your pi from overseas?
Was told that this will be exempt, as its a component and not a complete unit.

Depends on what code the customs and execise officer decides to use - just looked - seems Pi-factory ( local ) seems to have stock.
