Hi Guys,

Currently I have a Cyborg R.A.T. 5 mouse but my left click is automatically double clicking and really annoying (especially in Photoshop & AI).

I don't game but use the on my PC 8-10 hours a day (PS, AI, WebDesign, Research) and have found that gaming mouse in general is more comfortable. When browsing / researching, I actually use my ring finger to right click & middle finger to scroll which made the lip on the RAT 5 nice so that my ring finger does not slip off..

Other important things I am looking at is 2 well placed side buttons (back & forward), thumb glide (guess i will get use to one without it) back (palm) height, and maybe a bit more ergonomically designed mouse for a more natural position of my hand.

I bought a Redragon Titanoboa2 just before Christmas but returned it as it the way i hold the mouse i kept on right clicking accidentally and the mouse was a bit small to my liking... Link.

I actually went to Matrix & Incredible Connection hoping that they might have a nice variety to feel all the different mice but in general just normal mice...

Other options I am considering is :

Cougar 700M Superior (already a bit over my price range)
The palm height adjustment looks awesome (something that my RAT could not do). But some people say that it does not make a huge big difference. Don't know Cougar brand toooo well and see they are new in SA so a bit unsure...

Logitech G502 (way over budget but anyway)
Like the fact that it has another 2 buttons next to the left mouse button... can maybe create a copy paste macro for that.

The Logitech MX Master also looks fantastic, but the 2 side buttons are WAY back & "think" it might be difficult to get to...

Any other ideas or feedback welcome!

I have some credit available at takealot so it would be a bargain if the mouse is there otherwise any other place is cool :-)

I have the older G402 and it's great, a bit cheaper than the G502 and not that different. Takealot has them but you can get it quite a bit cheaper elsewhere.

I have the 403 and love it, best mouse I ever used. Responsiveness is out of this world.

Asus Spatha. I went through same process.
Ended up with ROG Spatha and 3D printed a right side panel for my pinky/ring finger.
Expensive, but worth it.

Get the newer mx master 2s (not the mx master).

I think you can configure application-specific shortcut buttons so the one button can act as "previous page" when you're using chrome, and becomes "copy" when you're using excel, etc.

I'm currently using the G700 and I think my next goto mouse would be the 2s.

@ponder .... off to look for an old mouse :-) Thank you!

If I make a buggerup... Evetech, hope your delivery is super fast :-) :-) :-) (G502 @ R1099 :-)

Try and find out which particular switches that mouse uses, order a few of ebay etc, desolder the old ones and solder in new ones. Best way to do it imho ;)

PS Check the size of the G502, it might be smaller than the rat.

+1
I also have the Rat 5 and got the mx master 2s about a month ago. The 2s works really great for me.

What I like is that it also supports BT. On the desktop pc I use the usb receiver but when not at home I use it via BT on laptop. (Not that it is a small mouse for travel but I don't mind the size).

My Rat 5 registered 2 clicks per single. I eventually opened the switches and fixed it. There was contamination on internal switch contacts.

RAT 5 is awesome for the price. I roll with one as an everyday. My son games with a RAT 9 and will not swap it for anything. I have an unopened Corsair Sabre RGB gaming mouse lying around if you're interested?

I had a RAT 7 for non-gaming use. The left button switch started giving problems so I de-soldered it and put a new one in.This is not difficult. Then the sensor gave problems so it hit the bin.

The replacement mouse is a Roccat Kone XTD, which is superior to the RAT in every way. It is a large mouse suited for a palm grip and is user configurable, including the two side buttons. The software for the setup seems to be available in just about any OS, where I have been using the Linux version.
