There is already a long thread on Axpert inverters but not much discussion on the more expensive Infinisolar product from the same manufacturer (Voltronic). I'd love to hear some feedback from those who have it installed. Comments on installation, quality concerns, pricing and availability, setup etc - all welcome.

I am in the process of installing one. I am also weary about the quality of the unit compared to European brands, but the price difference is substantial. Will let you know how it goes. I am waiting to get the DC breakers for the PV and battery side.
Cheers

What you are you installing and what price/supplier did you get it for?

Hi.
I am putting in 10 x 300W panels.
The circuit breakers are from my local electrical supplier, who is getting them for me from CBI and Schneider. Off the top of my head, it was about R1000 for the 600Vdc breaker and R450 for the 48V DC breaker.

Still waiting patiently :)

The Infinisolar has a MPPT solar input that starts at 250V. I would have preferred a lower starting voltage to get more usage from the panels, but its all about tradeoffs.

I will post more when things progress.
cheers

CBI is generally very overpriced, so not surprised by those prices...

Thought it would actually be more

Not true.

You get what you pay for .

You can't compare Chinese or ACDC breakers with Schneider of CBI.

Schneider has a 100A double pole DC breaker 10kA for R1600

Could someone please explain what this means in layman terms? An electrician friend looked at the infinisolar specs and was concerned by the high voltage. Why is this an issue? I think his particular concern was over safety (shrug).

Yeah I'm not going to agree.

For AC circuit breakers CBI is overpriced. They are always the most expensive and their quality may have been better years before but these days I don't have any issues with Chint for example (Chint is also much, much larger than CBI).

Haven't had a single Chint circuit breaker fail on me and their specifications are superior also. Not sure why CBI think they can get away with selling 3kVA circuit breakers at higher prices than Chint is selling 10kVA circuit breakers for example.

Many electricians have this problem. Quote with CBI and you won't get the contract. Simple as that.

I mention Chint because they are Chinese but their quality is excellent.

Hi guys.

I have a question regarding surge protection for the Infinisolar.

Is a single pole surge protector sufficient, or should one go for a double pole?
This is between the mains and the inverter.

Thanks
