*READ FIRST* iBurst Network Status & Issues (DNS, Throughput and Latency)

I've been in contact with Iburst for the past 2 days, regarding the very slow international speeds.
After escalating the problem from the one department to the other department I finally got informed that there's some congestion on the international links...
Apparently they are working on it..
For myself, the local speed is fine, but international is crap..
So I suppose we will just have to give them a bit of time.....again..

yea local is fine. I refuse to waste airtime phoning i get much more info from the forums here.....

I didn't have to phone either :)
I posted my problem here, was asked to send my contact number and got phoned by someone from Iburst! :)
And he keeps me up to date about what's going on as well, by phone or email.
So thumbs up for customer care!

Lets see who can get the lowest speeds seen as I have nothing else to do.

ALL OF YOU INTERNETZ ARE BELONG TO US!

Test conducted on Thu Feb 07 2013 21:11:44 GMT+0200 (South Africa Standard Time)

Download Speed: 67 kbps (8.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 85 kbps (10.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 346 ms

I got lower download speeds, but better upload speeds and better latency. It took me 6 attempts before the speed test actually worked and I could get a result.

Test conducted on 7/2/2013 22:56:04

Download Speed: 46 kbps (5.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 202 kbps (25.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 318 ms

90 deg to the transmitter. If it were properly installed it would not flap about...

Yeah thats great.. thanks for the help.
It was tight when I set it up, and it certainly isnt flapping about.

The wind and rain lately has been insane and has loosened it, would you like a picture of my installation or something?

My point is that the alignment out of whack now, and I cant seem to get it right, I am searching google maps for tower locations and comparing with the coverage map and I am not coming right here.

The guy who iburst sent here to check out the problems I was having said to point it east, and if I look on the coverage map there are no towers to the east of me so that isnt helping either.

International speeds almost unusable. Cannot stream audio at low bandwidth. Regularly data just stops for a few seconds or if long enough breaks the connection. Larger emails are often aborted during these data blackouts.

From Iburst's Facebook page:
"We are currently experiencing some congestion on our international links, thus affecting speed. Please bare with us as our technicians attend to the problem. Apologies for the inconvenience, we will keep you posted."

Let's just hope this gets sorted before the weekend starts..

Well then that would explain my issue.

Its not my antenna pointing the wrong way, its the international links.
I have 4 towers pretty close to me, and it totaly didnt make sense that I had such slow speeds all of a sudden.

Planetside 2 is unplayable on iBurst at the moment, works fine on Cellc 3g.
Hopefully this gets fixed fast as playing online games is 90% of the reason I even have internet..

I have never taken to FB even though I was an early subscriber in 2004. So - I cannot find any reference to any announcement like this. What gets me is that there is nothing on their incident reports page. In fact, they have not had a single incident since 18 Oct 2012! Must a wonderful technical team ;-) Anyhow, their human relations has never much more than 2 out 10, so the less I have to interact with them the better.

I wouldn't count on net going back to normal by the end of this weekend, it seems EASSY is down.

Getting 20% of my normal speeds, can't even access speedtest, something definitely not ok as i always get my full speeds

Shortly? That's a very subjective word. I'm hoping it'll be a few hours, but then again it could be days ...

Hey lets wait and see, for now my iPhone connected to PC is my internet, expensive yes however its working :)

I guess that's all we can do. That's a good alternative, but as you said, expensive. The last time I used my phone like that, I got a bill of R1000 ...

yea buying 3GB packages is like R399 hopefully resolved soon would love to use my cap....this month

Perhaps there is something I don't get, but why do there appear to be no similar international congestion issues from the other service providers? I can speedtest through a vodacom connection but not through my Iburst connection.
Another thing - I would have thought that this mess up the past few days merits being called an 'incident'. But according to Iburst incident report everything is hunky-dory. Neither do I find any mention of EASSY being down on google.
I cannot help but come to the conclusion that Iburst is bulldusting me /us.
Can anyone convince me that are are not?
