Weird network issues

I am having weird network issues since last night.

I can't get my email from our RSAWEB servers since last night. It says server not reachable.

Other email in my email client works so its not email client.

The weird thing then comes into where I can't get email and then I can't ping the IP address nor the domain but I can reach the website running on the same machine.

My colleague on Mweb ADSL can reach the server fine, all the services.

Anyone else having this problem?

iBurst, can you help please?

Have had some weird problems past two nights - Facebook wouldn't load properly, then stopped completely. MWEB/News24 pages had to be refreshed a few times before they would load. Most sites pretty much slower than usual. Am sorry, this is all my fault - a few days ago I said iBurst was great at the moment and tempted fate!

Can you please provide the IP address?

I can do a telnet pop.rsaweb.co.za 110 -> +OK Mail Toaster (Dovecot) ready.

Two night ago there was a power outage at JINX that affected traffic for about 2 hours.

We also had a notification of an upstream link failure to Amsterdam. That was only cleared at 8am this morning.

Update: I was also reminded that there was a 20 minute maintance with one of our upstreams that occurred last night during the scheduled maintenance time window.

Don't you have automatic routing redirection if there is a problem at JINX to reach everything through the Internet even if it's slower?

Ah, okay. Was worried for a moment, seeing as it tied in with what the media were reporting with regards MWEB doing its final adjustments on the peering issue, that somehow we were being affected after all. Will see how things are tonight.

My exact problem above is happening again this morning.

I have escalated to AfricaINX and RSAWeb. They seem to not have an issue with some of our ranges.

Thanks, it has been working since early Sunday for me, last checked before that about a few hours after you posted the above. Hopefully it now stays fixed

Very sluggish network tonight. Pings changing by 150ms constantly and bad latency on all online games and applications. Web browsing was also slow this afternoon.

Browsing and network extremely sloooooooow today.

Note the missing packets as well.

PING google.com (155.232.240.19) 56(84) bytes of data.

From my Tomato at home to the same address:

Round-Trip: 103.279 min, 114.893 avg, 124.156 max (ms)
Packets: 5 transmitted, 5 received, 0% lost

You sure that there isn't a signal issue?
