*READ FIRST* iBurst Network Status & Issues (DNS, Throughput and Latency)

I will check that out. As of late morning until now, i've had no problems. Strange eh?

Ronald, it's been a week since i first started experiencing some severe degredation of my online experience with iBurst. I have attributed this largely to a latency issue because I have experienced slow, laggy, gaming - far more than usual. I have sent you my UTID and location. I have tested this as much as I can from my side, with the only thing left for me to do being to either swap out my modem, or my home router. I dont see how either of these could be the problem though, as my troubles are sporadic - i.e. sometimes things are good, but most times they are not.

It's now 19:00 and I can feel the lag again. Again, my local download speed seems to be crap:

I didnt even bother trying international.

WHat other information do you need? What else should I try? And what exactly is being done from the Iburst perspective to address my seemingly unique problem? Im being told that Webafrica are quite reliable and for Cape Townians quite good on the latency side of things too, and this will be where i go if i cant get this sorted out.

Any more info needed - please let me know...

Local speeds are a joke, quite frankly. For the last week, nothing close to half the claimed 2Mbps speed I am paying for, so I am getting pretty agitated.
In the beginning when I got my Silver Surfer, I regularly saw over 2Mbps, but this is getting tedious now. I have spent plenty time getting the modem placed just right where signal is a constant 100% (even during the rain period we had) but

Using http://192.168.250.200/ it says Aligned BSCC 19, signal strength is 100%, but download speeds are slow.

I have done more Speedtest tests than I care to remember, but in the last week or so, speed has dropped to a literal crawl.
I don't know what the issue is, but I honestly hope iBurst can sort out issues regarding this.

Feedback from the techies is that there have been weather related issues in Cape Town that have required maintenance tasks. Sorry forgot that it is the rainy season down south and it is the Cape of Storms.

Thanks r00igev@@r,

Did they indicate how long maintenance will be, I cant even send e-mails anymore I'm using my phone on 3G:(

Your lucky to still open speedtest, my iburst connection is so slow that I cant even open speedtest. I'm forced to run up my cellphone bill by sending e-mails on 3G when I'm paying iburst for that. I'm starting to get seriously p$@#@D. When are the tech guys in Cape Town going to sort out the problem. At least giving us an indication will help! :( I've now had useless internet since Thursday. Signal strength of around 20% and I'm using a external antenna which has upto now given me 100%. My normal ping was under 100 and my downloads at full. Please IBURST, Explain!!! :(

Sorry, I have no feedback from the NOC so I am logging an official ticket. Reference: 001-00-443520

Update: There have been power related issues in the area since Friday (and since there is limited battery power the neighbouring BTS's have been picking up the signal and dependent on your location, this might not be optimal.)

Which areas are affected?

also keen to know as Cape Town is a pretty big area you know :) My performance last night was better than it was over the weekend, but still pretty poor.

I'm so confused at the moment. r00igev@@r, I really appreciate that your trying to help. This is my situation at the moment. I'm in Protea Village, Brackenfell. The Kraaifontein tower is should not be too far from me. When I moved here the signal strength was so bad that I got a iburst external antenna, then is was bliss, 100% signal strength. I have had 1 or 2 times in the past year that my reception just dropped and I saw it as a iburst issue so I didnt even report anything. If not the same day but maybe the next everything will be back to normal. So last week Wednesday night we had a hectic storm here but my internet was still working fine. Thursday it started slowing down to the point that I'm getting 5%-20% signal which is giving me less than dial-up, I cant browse any websites and my e-mails barely work. I'm changing between iburst and my cellphones via bluetooth constantly just to keep going. I saw our neighbors across the street also has an iburst external antenna so I went over to them today, they are getting 100% and have no issues at the moment. If I plug my modem into my external antenna I'm getting 5-20%, if I use that little small antenna that comes with the iburst usb modem I can get maybe 60%. Now I'm asking myself the following, is there a problem with the reception here cause why are they getting 100%, is my modem ok, cause it still works. Is my external antenna busted? but again its currently working even if its at 20%. Are my neighbors maybe connected to a different tower than I am, is that even possible? You can understand that all these questions are driving me nuts as there are nothing I can do about it.

Please try two things:
- use your modem at a different location.
- move the antennae to a different location.

Advanced support should be giving you a call as well.
