*READ FIRST* iBurst Network Status & Issues (DNS, Throughput and Latency)

Thanks r00igev@@r,

I have moved the modem to the other side of the house on a different pc and can get upto 60% signal with the small antenna, that should mean that my modem is fine I guess. I will move the external antenna tomorrow morning to see if that helps. Does the signal location somtimes change that you have to move the antenna?

Yes, but 60% is still poor.

A little rain in cape town and iBurst stops working.

Tokai tower.... Connection light red on modem.

EDIT: And we're back.....
think that's the quickest I have ever seen iburst fix a problem.

plumstead, connection is intermittent since this morning, 'cannot find remote computer' etc for hours this morning, service returned at 1-ish now offline again...

r00igev@@r,

Still me with the slow modem issues, I'm trying to find the source of the problem. I connected my usb modem to laptop which I went walk about with. The best I could get was 90%, speedtest was pink 111 DL 0.4 UL 0.1 not hat great but millions times better than what I get on my pc, then I went to my main pc and plugged in the external antenna, again I'm @ 30% signal strength. That tells me my modem is definitely fine no problem there. I have not yet moved the external antenna. I have a question or 2 which I hope you (or someone else) can shed some light on the issue. With my external antenna connected over the past year I had 100% signal strength, my ping was about 80-90 and DL 1.0+ and my UL 0.3 now since last week its just horrible. the external antenna is mounted with a good bracket so it cant move around at all. I only mounted it upside down, dont know why but its the only way I could get a descent signal strength from it. My questions are. 1. Do the antennas break easily? 2. Has anyone needed to adjust their antenna after a while because the signal went wonky?

Never had this before, but today it seems my downloads are at half the speed they usually are and they seem to quit halfway while downloading. Trying to download Firefox Aurora 6.

Has Advanced support contacted you yet? The best is to do a signal test with another modem at your location, unless there is a BTS issue in the area.

The NOC states that the Kraaifontein BTS which you use is ok (about 3.5 clicks north). One of the FSE's will come out to your place (Advanced support will arrange)

GUESS WHAT!?

Crappy speeds and high latency yet again in Cape Town....w..t..f....! Been ok the last several days, but here we are crawling again.

What's up in the Pretoria Waverley / Queenswood / Kilnerpark area? I only have 50% signal tonight, as opposed to 100%.
