*READ FIRST* iBurst Network Status & Issues (DNS, Throughput and Latency)

Any ETA on when Iburst will wake up and fix the problems people are experiencing with the service?

Generally I my only issues are where there are definite faults on iburst side. My pc runs on XP and I have it tweaked as best I can. Currently streaming music and browsing web and have an online game running. I suggest if not already done to install Drtcp from here www.dslreports.com/drtcp and take note of the settings it displays, these are what I have, try them and see if any improvement.
Tcp rcv window 54560 path mtu Yes
wind scaling yes black hole no
time stamp no max dup acks 2
selecitve ack yest ttl 64
dial ras (empty)
adapter.. (what you connect with) MTU 1392

there are lots of other tweaks and tools on that site such as www.dslreports.com/tweaks and those on the menu of that page

Would like to use eyeBurst to do some checking there, but I can't download the JRE with my current connection at home! Not that I want anything Java related on my PC. I hate Java. Ever since tutoring it for 4 years.

@DsBalsak: Mountain View tower off? Nooo, I got on the roof to raise my omni by a meter for nothing? Geen wonder ek LAG so baie op Inferno nie! Signal fluctuation, and when stable between 90 and 100%, still error frame rate fluctuates. Hate that my Telkom line was stolen.

What a joke. Again.
iBurst, sort this out ASAP please. Why are we still paying full price for an obviously sub-standard service?

In my opinion, this ISP should cut everyone's monthly installments in half and back date them to November last year when all this crap started. "No known problems" my left nut, fix this pathetic speed issue for once and for all so we can stop moaning.

This thread is basically 188 pages of complaints, just like the iBurst Facebook page:confused:

And just to remind you what it says on iBurst's website:

Vision
To provide our customers with quality services for global connectivity in the South African market.

Mission
To be a reliable gateway for communications by offering innovative products with the highest levels of customer service, whilst building stakeholder value.

Values
Customer Satisfaction
Honesty
Passion
Refreshing
Respect

Now go on, hop to it. Go do exactly what you say you do.

Extremely frustrating trying to farm Inferno with 2 Barbarians when one lags with his iBurst connection...
DsBalsak, where did you hear the news about Mountain View tower? Is that for realz?

My Internet connection what's out for a whole night and it has just been getting worse and worse, trying to play diablo now but it's a royal **** upp, had to plug in my phone just to update it and sitting with a 600 ping

My internet got "cut off" at 7this morning and only came back now 5PM ..... and it is extremely buggy and slow ..
Rynfield
Benoni
Gauteng ...... WTF is potting iBurst ?

It seems like each time there is shut with I burst and to be honest that is always the representatives just magically disappear

@noswal: Tried it, had a good influence when the connection holds - thanks for that.

Pity the connection doesn't hold at ideal times for me though. Connection had some good times very early in the morning over the weekend, but I don't just need it early weekend mornings. Need to keep up in Inferno during the week as well!

I get a 100% connection here in Boston, Bellville, but I never get a download speed of over .44mbps - most of the time less.
Their techies assistance has done nothing to improve the speed.
iBurst do not reply to emails in this regard.
Trying to watch a video usually goes like this - 2 seconds play then 5-10 seconds buffering and so on.
iBurst speeds have been going on like this for at least a year now and they have done nothing to improve it.

MTN backbone is iBurst's downfall ?

It seems it's not so much iBurst's network that has latency issues...but rather iBurst's backbone provider; MTN !

Look at my trace result below. Up to an MTN Business IP; latency is not actually that bad for wireless...but from hop #6 and onwards (once data reaches MTN's backbone) the quality of the network plummets.

----------------------------------------------------
Tracing route to igubu.saix.net [196.25.1.1]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

Trace complete.

So....maybe iBurst is not the one to blame, ne ? Just something to think about....

Will check my tracert tonight as well and post it if my connection works. If we can verify this then at least iBurst can try to fix it...perhaps...

Hops 4 and 5 (iBurst/MTN) did not give consistent results, though they were always in sync with each other - either both high or both low.
