Basically I got pissed off when I copy a file to a friend's pc and then find out I'm stuck with one of those annoying flash drive viruses

So in the security tab on the properties of my flash drive, I set "Everyone" to only read and my user account to have full control, so far it looks like its works. Anyone else tried this ? Any short comings ?

Only works for NTFS, which implies an increased risk of data corruption. Autorun.inf with +s +r + H attribs works with FAT32 & thats what I'm currently using. Its probably easier for virus writers to circumvent the attrib trick, but I haven't heard of them doing so yet so thats what I'm using atm.

Would that help against that pesky virus that creates executable files based on your folder names ?

Its intended to protect against autorun viruses only. i.e. The kind that infects a PC the second the mem stick is inserted.
