REASONS WHY ENGLAND CAN WIN
THE SCRUM
England's front-row of Andrew Sheridan, Mark Regan and Phil Vickery produced magnificent scrummaging performances in the quarter-final victory over Australia and semi-final success against France.
Sheridan is arguably the world's finest loosehead prop at present, and with England also likely to send on Matt Stevens from the bench for Vickery - a familiar move in this tournament - South Africa will be severely tested.
JONNY WILKINSON
Fly-half Wilkinson is the player South Africa fear above any other. In the four games he has played during the tournament, England have won them all and Wilkinson has amassed 61 points.
He remains a player with an ice-cool temperament for the big occasion, as his late match-winning kicks against France proved. There will be huge pressure on his shoulders this weekend, but that is something he thrives upon.
BULLDOG SPIRIT
England's self-styled band of brothers have developed an unquenchable team spirit during the past month, picking themselves up off the canvas after South Africa smashed them 36-0 en route to topping Pool A.
Hooker Mark Regan likens the atmosphere and banter with that of a club side, and if they continue to keep the faith with each other, another memorable result is not beyond the realms of possibility.
JASON ROBINSON
England full-back Robinson produced one of the tournament's great individual displays against South Africa last month before limping off with a hamstring injury that sidelined him for three weeks.
He returned against Australia, carrying world-class form into the France game a week later. He will retire from Test rugby after the final, and one of England's finest-ever players will do everything he can to bow out on a high.
BRIAN ASHTON
England's head coach will be rewarded for steering England into another World Cup final with a new contract likely to incorporate the next tournament in 2011.
He has brought a refreshing approach to the top job in English rugby, and given what England have already achieved in this competition, who is to say he won't be addressed as ``Sir Brian'' later this year.
