Rebel Tech is shutting down

Our money will be worth f-all soon.
Years of service all pissed away completely unnecessarily...and yet, my social media is still plastered in messages of support of this government locdown

The writing was on the wall long before Covid hit if a 30 odd day lockdown caused a business to go under. But, go ahead - blame the government imposed lockdown.

Wootware was selling their In-warehouse stock, but they were taking a chance in doing so. Technically they were selling non-essential items.
Rember just because you logged onto Bizportal and downloaded an essential suppliers certificate, doesn't mean that you were operating within framework of the regulations.

I guess they were willing to challenge the matter in court should it have come to that.

There are other IT-related non-essential companies in my area which continued to trade under the restrictions.

Let's be honest, in the government's attempt to prevent widespread containment they 'sabotaged' the economy, but within the scope allowed by the National Management Act, much which is in Constitutional dispute.

Damn it...... this just sucks, and i was waiting for them to open, to buy some stuff

Can anyone recommend another local supplier of Noctua products? Or will I now have to go through the hassle of importing it myself?

I don't know the exclusivity agreements between the parties here, but I am sure that Noctua would want to be picked up by someone else. In the end, someone is going to cannibalise the market Rebeltech had and it may dangerously grow into monopolisation.

Sad news indeed for everyone never had issues with them. This gvt is fking useless they fking everything up jaja go ahead blame rebel tech you gvt supporters

Well, that just blows. used them the last time I did an upgrade for my RAM/SSD/new keyboard and a few other odds and ends. The cheapest option I could find for the model/brand I wanted and delivered on time. Going to miss them.

Wootware didn't sit back and grabbed the opportunity they had. What encouraged Rebel Tech not to use the opportunities they had to still trade, I don't know.

Exactly, also a healthy company does not go bust after one month of lockdown.

I've ordered from RT a long time ago, but their service was always outstanding. Rune would even organize for after-hours pickup because of work/traffic on a Friday. He's a good dude. I wonder what his next venture will be?

Used RT a number of times over the years, from Rune's original location at their home, to the Fourways place. Never had any reason to complain about after-sales service

How does a one month lockdown kill your business especially if it's online with minimal overhead?

The real losers are the brick and mortar stores. with landlords not compromising on rent.

Looks like Matrix are sitting ducks if the computer industry are the first to feel the effects.
