Hi Guys

Need your help on how to resolve this issue with vodacom.

On 28 February 2014 I upgraded my contract to

Red Advantage (R999pm)
700 minutes
Limitless sms
700Mb data

So received my bill for March and I am being charged (R1900 just for my data).
I checked on my Iphone and my data used from 28-Feb to 22-Apr is 1.4GB.

So seeing that i get 700mb free for March and we are 22 days into April
how the hell can I be charged R1900 for data. The maths just dont add up.

Help Please :mad::mad:

Settings

Mobile data, switch off apps you don't need data for, especially games

General background app refresh off

General iCloud, switch off auto synch if you don't need it.

General iTunes and apps store, switch off auto downloads

I don't see why.

I have a 500mb bundle and have everything on...yet I never run out.

The really big stuff won't download over 3G anyway.

More important question... Why did you go for that contract? It seems horribly overpriced if you ask me.

On to your question. 1400 usage - 700 included = 700 OOB. OOB rates are R2 p/meg if I'm not mistaken, so that's 700*2=1400 for data.

Also, what kind of cycle is that? 28 Feb to 22 Apr? Set it to show 1 March to 1 April and see what it says then?

Iphone said I Used 1.4GB in total for March and April

I Get 1GB free per month (Sorry not 700MB as mentioned above).

R1900 for 400MB??

It shows my log since it was last reset which was 28 Feb

Rather safe than sorry.
It depends on how many apps you have.
I have 141 apps, 2000 songs and 3000 pics.
If those apps had to update themselves I'm in trouble.
If the songs have automatically download a better quality file, trouble.
If 3000 pics have to back up or synch to iCloud.
Would be bad for my bill.

700min
1GB data
Unlimited SMS (comes in handy when using iMessage)
Free iPhone 5S. R10 000 phone.
It's not the worst deal.

Hmm not the worst deal no. Total cost is 23976 for 5s and the other benefits. If one actually makes use of the minutes it's decent enough, but that data allowance... Then again anything under 2GB seems tiny to me so eh.

Anyway, in that case I'm not sure WTF is up with the charge. OOB is definitely to blame but not sure how they worked it out this time around.

This is one reason why I stay away from contracts and if I do sign on the dotted line I will make sure that data services are switched off. Carry a Mi-Fi with me at all times with prepaid data sim card/afrihost sim card.

OOB Shark can seriously give you a heart attack or worst attach your house etc. Network providers should learn from Telkom Mobile..

When your data bundle runs out,you will either be redirected to a page giving you options to purchase a new bundle, or you will automatically continue browsing, whilst being charged at OOB(out of bundle) rates.

they allow you to set an option :)
