Reckless superbikers

Please don't play on the phone in traffic. You might end up killing a biker...

You can't tell a 67% difference in speed when you're stationery (100 vs 60)? I'm fairly sure you could, perhaps not at the exact point that someone passes you, but seeing them progress away from you makes it very noticeable. I'd love to make some videos to test this (stationery camera pointing towards the direction of travel, then have cars pass it and progress at constant speeds), but I don't have a private stretch of road to do it. Would make for very interesting comparisons I reckon..

Obviously if you are going to say Car 1 is doing 60km/h and Car 2 is doing 100km/h I'll be able to tell you one is faster than the other.

But let a car drive past me randomly and then ask me if it was doing 60, 80 or 100 and it's a whole different ball game.

Ah it's a Biker thing. I get it. But those cages as you call it have air-conditioning and cupholders and Internet if you play on your phone in traffic

You also have those in some prisons...but you are still in prison because you aren't going anywhere fast.

You must remember that if they do come up short they normally only injure themselves. So it should be a none issue for you. They are reckless knowing they are not putting anyone else's life at risk. So they don't bother me.

That's what you think... want pics to disprove?

I rode super bikes for 16 years and didn't want to die, hence acquiring a BMW GS earlier this year. :)

It is however a simple rationale, the douchebag riders never attach a Nr plate or alternatively attach a microscopic size Nr plate at an angle underneath their seats to their bike, whilst the rest of us who in general abide to the laws of the road always ride with a numberplate - have a look and tell me if I'm wrong.

Have a great weekend and stay safe, whether it be on 2 wheels or 4.

Yeah... No.

Just this morning a guy on a CBR600 wanted to have a race. Came flying passed me and revved at me at the next red light. This was in Johan Heynes in Pretoria. He then flew off the line and disappeared into heavy traffic at speed. He had a plate on. I didn't, but call me the douchebag for riding without a plate.

But hey, whatever.

Yes you are wrong and also making stupid generalizations like the rest in threads like these

Well down in the Cape I can tell you okes are riding without plates because they are speeding and avoiding tickets/cameras.

With E-tolls in Jo'burg it's maybe a different story.

Nope.. Same ****, different reason to hide behind but still equally illegal regardless of reason.

I think the police should have a month where they pull over all vehicles at ramps and impound with a release fee of 5k and a court appearance for in and out of Pretoria, Sandon and Fourways etc and u will find they get 75% of these ones who believe the law is for those that cannot pay.

I personally believe that a lot of South Africans refuse to drive safely, cars and bikers alike. I blame the police for not enforcing the rules of the road on a regular basis.

I was talking about them driving past you randomly, I just used the values you brought up as examples.

To be fair, I understood the OP as referring to a specific type of motorcycle rider or road user, and not as painting all two-wheeled road users with the same brush.

I concede there are arseholes on the road, they even wheelie on the roads, in traffic and I have seen them, get off bike, and assault a motorist for no reason at all. I think he is referring to those thugs on bikes, not all bikers, or road users.
