Hihi

I currently do not have a telephone line and have been using GSM solutions (need at least 20gb/m can go capped but would prefer uncapped & unshaped). It is time to increase my bandwidth a bit.

Currently looking at 2 Mb business uncapped solutions from axxess , afrihost or Webafrica. Maybe even Telkom direct

Any recommendations? And why?
(would prefer to keep total cost p/month below R700)

Thanks in advance

go capped.. I just joined webafrica. Because they have a decent website and they seem to have the most reliable network in my opinion. Pay R199 for 120GB unshaped.

OK perhaps I should rephrase... Currently doing 20. But that is on GSM.. My current downloads I do at work and then transfer them to external HDD and if I can I would like to do them at home... Might be 120 gb/m or more

Then bob is your uncle, what area are you in?

I recommend Afrihost business because it works for me, it might be a different experience for you.

Teraco's footprint of vendor neutral data centres allows you to deploy infrastructure once and then interconnect quickly and efficiently to multiple clients.

120GB a month, I would still go capped!

Vox have their fatpipe which is pretty good, as well as WebAfrica capped is decent. I make use of both and they are fantastic!
Majority of ISP issues you see on this forum are people on uncapped accounts, those who run capped accounts seldom have issues.

The Axxess / Afrihost network gives me an extra 20 - 40ms ping when playing games on EU servers. Vox and WebAfrica give me the best ping so far as well - if you are interested in gaming online.

Although why not just get the ADSL line for now, then sign up for the Axxess, WebAfrica and Afrihost free 1GB per month and test those 3 ISPs to begin with and then perhaps get a small capped account in the interim until you decide which ISP to go with and whether you actually want to try go for uncapped or not.

My 2c, do need to rush and then end up frustrated due to you being throttled and are unable to stream or download or even browse the internet.

With that usage, Web Africa all the way. probably the best routing available in SA.

Get a Telkom bundle 20Mb/s VDSL line + 50GB capped for R601. Schedule downloads between 00:00-07:00 which is their free time period and usage does not count towards your cap.
On a 20Mb/s line you can easily do 1.4TB+ a month if you really feel like backing up the internet.
If you're a gamer you can add their Gaming bolt on for R49 which means all game traffic at all times also do not get counted (that's downloads & play time).

Definitely recommend Crystal Web! Check there: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/620123-Crystal-Web-(NEW-ISP)-ADSL-Feedback

I was happy with Web Africa capped, but if anything Crystal Web has been better - for gaming, streaming and all. You can ask anyone on that Crystal Web thread and I'm sure they will agree with me.

If you would prefer someone else, I can't fault Web Africa's service. We use them at work.

But every second night you can only play on Telkom servers because their peering is so borked.
