My girlfriend had her car battery ripped out of her engine (Honda Brio).
The battery is going to need to be replaced. I don’t know much about components but there has also been damage to both the connectors to the terminals and to the fuse box. I try and indicate this with the attached photos

I'm looking for recommendations on who to approach that can advise on what will be involved, what should be done and how much it will cost.

Thanks!

I'd say you want to go to a honda dealer. Some of those parts need to be replaced and I suspect that there won't be generics available.
Your insurance should cover all this?

Thanks @MrMag and @Sinbad. Thanks - yeah meant ripped out the engine bay.
Yeah we have contacted insurance but they are taking their time and not being helpful - even asking us to supply them with quotes. Getting quotes is difficult as moving the car requires towing and although that will probably happen, will require going through insurance on that too.
If anyone has ideas, we stay in the Sandton area of Joburg (Katherine street)

I think he means ripped out of Engine bay. Think any Joe worth their pound of salt knows that, why the funny comments.
Clearly not as I still don't have an idea what OP is talking about and trying to assist is hard, not a funny comment at all. OP how dud this ripping out happen, someone stole the battery or what?

Do you have a broker? If so shout at them and tell them to sort that shyte out... Take the vehicle to a Honda dealership and inform them it will be fixed there if the vehicle is still under warranty.

Either get your broker involved or if you don’t, phone the nearest Honda dealership and tell them to collect the car and add the fee to the quote. Then tell them to arrange a second quote.

Well excuse me for living. It wasn't intented to be funny, unless you daft enough to believe I thought the battery resides inside the combustion engine. I still don't understand the action "ripped out".

Are you serious?

It means it was pulled out forcefully, which heavily implies some damage to the terminals and/or cables. Batteries don’t have six-packs, they’re pretty much just a sort of battery shape.

How or who or what? Batteries don't simply rip out without a cause.

You think the bonnet is ok still?

OP, how did the rippers gain access to the engine bay to do the ripping out thereof?

Are you being deliberately doff? Or just having one hell of a blonde moment? Does it even matter who did it?

Personally I’m assuming someone stole the battery, and I’d be surprised if the answer turned out to be anything other than that.

So your assumption forms the basis for your arguement that I'm having a blond moment. Genius.

I followed the OP’s question quite easily. You’re clearly battling. My choice of terminology there was deliberate, and was done to avoid calling you an idiot, by giving you the benefit of the doubt. If you’d like to remove that doubt, be my guest.

My assumption on who ripped it out comes after my question of it it matters or not who did it. And it doesn’t really matter, all that matters is that it was done forcefully and damage was done, and the OP is looking for advice on how to proceed with getting it repaired.

You are assuming.

If others are interested in what happened then let them be, what if it was an accident where the car rolled or something? Do you still want to assume and police this thread as if it was stolen?

What if it was theft, at least then other members will know that people somehow gain access to engine bays to steal batteries so they know what to avoid.

Get an auto electrician to take a look at the car, I am sure a temporary solution can be made to get the car moving, there aren't a lot of complicated things with the battery, it is a negative and a positive wire with a couple of fuses, anyone with a clue would easily put that together to get the car moving. I don't know the implications of warranties/insurance and all that when doing something like that so consider that.

we had 2 wheels stolen from one side of a car, and they were ordinary steel wheels.

so ripping out batteries, totally possible,

what would I do? try get the vehicle moving by jury rigging a battery,
go to honda (under warranty) and get them to change the terminals.
