rectron price list

Lol another one of these threads.

Look guys what V is saying is that if you could buy there why not call your rep and get a price list. Getting prices from a distributor will then not help you if you can't buy there.

firstly i haven't bought there in ages so i don't have it.

secondly it screws over the small pc guys who are trying to make an honest living with a insanely tiny markup. the guys gets a price and then when he cant buy there he goes to another place and argues that they are R50 more expensive for example.

look i am not going to argue as it doen't affect me, long time out the pc game, just saying my point. if you can say one good reason it will help him then be my guest and give it to him if you have it
 
Let me explain why i don't have a rectron account but would like the price list as well.

Being in the IT industry, i know a few companies who deal with rectron, I do not wish to disturb them, asking for a price list 2-3 times a month and they will get annoyed quickly.

however if i see something i want, and tell them, can you please order xyz from rectron at Rxyz they will probably give it to me.

so....if anyone have a price list...or the password , please share.
 
Also, its in the interest of competition to let everyone know what Rectron charge and it's not exactly the world's biggest secret. Rectron will be in business long after people like us have stopped wanting to look at their price list :p

Oh, disclaimer - if you don't want to give me rectron's price list, it's OK, we can still be friends despite a small difference of opinion.

Jokes aside, the real reason I want it is to see what they actually sell. I'll then account for the 20% markup and buy from one of their dealers. It's sometimes nice to shop with a complete list, a bit like those days you want to go to the shop to see cos you're not quite sure what your options are.

What I reckon Rectron should do is provide a stock list along with a list of who they supply and their email addresses.

The problem with shopping for IT in this country is that so few companies actually advertise what is available properly.

Agree totally, that's why I don't like physical PC stores. I don't want to speak to some idiot that earns R15/h about my new pc purchase and for him to choose what he thinks I need.

I want to see a list of every component available and their relative prices. Then choose what I want and research the various components I'm interested in.

I see why a physical pc store is necessary for people that have no knowledge of computers, but they are a waste of time for the enthusiast when it comes to building a PC.

The only thing exclusive that comes from Rectron are Gigabyte products and Transcend products as far as i am aware, everything else like seagate HDD's and intel cpu's come from all the different distributors.

Even if you don't have an account with Rectron or with the other different distributors, its not difficult to still buy from them. They all accept COD payments even if they have a credit facility, any person with a little memory and some listening skills can pose as an employee from another company. If you know exactly whats on the price list with their SKU's and have the money at hand then your fine.
 
Do you just need a vat number to register a COD account with them or is there a whole "are you a computer shop" process?
 
You probably need to be in the IT industry, otherwise every second plumber and architect company could register.

Sorry for barging in on this thread, I usually stay clear of threads where non dealers ask for pricelists..


I do not understand the above statement at all. There are a ton of online computer stores with every component available as well as a description.

Quite honestly, you don't need the price list as the online stores have got the price list just better put out with images.

You can look there at all the available items and then research it and make your decision.

If you prefer going to a physical store, then research as per the above method and then go into the store and tell them what you want. Most of them will get it for you if they don't have stock of the item.
 
You can register a CC (closed corporation) for about R1000, and then register with all the computer suppliers. My friends and I registered a small IT company to sell stuff to our other friends and family, but mostly we just bought stuff for ourselves at cost :p
