I was going to say. I would prefer long battery life.

What was the 8 Pro battery like?

Does not sound right.
I do not think a phone interferes with emails being received or not, except for the obvious connection.

Since you're on Gmail and presumably IMAP, go to the app settings and clear the data for the app?
 
@RedViking do you need the 128gb version over the 64gb?
I see I'm on 20gb of 32 and most is due to Spotify/YouTube music downloads, a few podcasts and a 1gb audiobook.
Maybe im just a light user.

Mail issues has zero to do with the phone or even the OS.

It's purely mail client related.

I have the Note 8 Pro. Can honestly vouch for it. From my perspective the 9 isn't worth the upgrade because I have zero issues with the 8.

A bit like not buying a car because the interior air vents are red. Honestly makes zero difference and after two days you don't notice it anymore.

Why is the 9 pro not being sold locally?

What I like about Xiaomi 9 range is you can have 2 sims and memory slot which for me is a big selling point over competitors. With Huawei being banned by Google as well as being expensive. this looks like a good alternative.
 
I see these guys import the 9 pro. It's a bit risky using such a small player as you might as well then import it yourself.
