[RELEASE] DStv Now KODI Add-on

Does this page work for anyone? http://guide.dstv.com/

Lots of errors and empty info. I guess this is the reason our EPG is failing.

And only reason I found this out, I was about to set up my own epg caching for dstv and one of the steps was to grab a cookie from this url. Oh well, looks like this is a DSTV issue and not an addon issue.

This might explain quite a bit.

So the addon uses:

This file is about 382KB when downloaded.

I found another url, https://iptv-org.github.io/epg/guides/za/dstv.com.epg.xml which when downloaded is 4.6MB and looks far more complete. I wonder if the addon just switch over to use iptv-org if it might work.

Eh channel ids look different.

Now, I only need to update it to pull in all the rest (will take some time) and get it added to the addon. I had to manually edit the adon code. Thats why it is tested on my MBP instead of on the TV.

Looking good. Note that the channel numbers on the sports picture seem to follow sequential numbering, instead of the actual channel numbers.
 
Hello all

Don't know if discussed before but when I go to the dstv add on and choose a channel I get the streaming bar and only a dstv now Pic with some sound

Is this a known issue and how do you fix
 
@Tinuva ... i imported your url as a source (are we allowed to ??? )

Most epg info now displays for me, but there is still a few blank channels ... 114, 122 and 130 just to name the 1st 3

Edit: I see on you screenshot 114 is also blank ??

You are more than welcome to import it. But it only contains 2 days of programs but will generate each day a new set.

As for the empty channels, need to see if they available on the dstv website.

You can view the github actions to see the log. I do think 1 or 2 connections might have timed out while grabbing. Will see if I can add retries.

Some channels show they grabbed 0 programs. Nice thing is the logs are there for all to see. The logging wil be slightly better on the next run to show channel nr and better name.

There should be some programs there.
 
Maybe the issue is kodi doesnt like the html code such as `'S27/E82'.`
